Schenectady, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team returned to action on Saturday with a pair of non-conference matches at Union. The Mount dropped an 8-25, 12-25, 16-25 decision to the host Dutchwomen before closing the day with a 17-25, 26-28, 19-25 loss to St. John Fisher.
Union 3 – Mount Saint Mary 0
In Saturday's opener, the Mount was limited to only 12 kills and hit -.075. Union put away 37 winners in the match and committed just 12 attack errors in securing the victory.
Freshman
Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) led the Mount with five kills in the contest, with
Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) putting away four winners. Riddle added an ace, a pair of blocks and five digs for the Mount with Kralik lifting a pair of digs.
Danielle Guarasci (Plainview, N.Y.) recorded two blocks for the Knights against Union and added a kill, while
Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) led the team with seven digs. Freshman
Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) rounded out the contest with nine assists and five digs for the Knights.
Union was led by 12 kills and a .429 attack percentage from Lara Atalay with Gillian Gore adding eight winners and nine digs. Jessica Siragusa led all players with 11 digs, with Steph Libonatio producing four total blocks and Sage Shimamoto handing out a match-high 14 assists.
In addition to the advantage in kills, Union posted a 14-4 edge in service aces and an 8-3 advantage in total team blocks.
St. John Fisher 3 – Mount Saint Mary 0
The Knights came back in the second contest of the day to hit .104 and record 23 kills, including 11 in the middle stanza. The Cardinals put away 46 winners in the sweep and hit .242 as a team.
Riddle reached double-figures in kills for the eighth time this season with a team-high 13 winners, closing her team leading fourth double-double of the season with 11 digs. She chipped in an ace and a block in a solid all-around contest for the Knights.
Kralik produced four more kills for the Mount with
Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) putting away three winners and totaling four blocks and two service aces.
Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) finished off the contest with team-highs in assists with 15 and aces with three, while Barbara reached 20 digs in a match for the fourth time this season with a team-high 21.
Klaire Wall (Point Pleasant, N.J.) closed the day with nine digs for the Knights.
St. John Fisher featured three players in double-figures in kills and four players with at least 10 digs. Lindsey DeBonis led the way with 13 winners, hitting .313, and added 14 digs in the contest. Alexis Mancha led the team with 16 digs, while Rebecca Hay posted a match-high 36 assists.
St. John Fisher finished the day with a 12-8 advantage in service aces, while the Knights posted a 4-2 edge in total team blocks.
Saturday's results move Mount Saint Mary to 7-12 overall. The Knights return to Skyline Conference play on Monday when they play host to Farmingdale State. First serve with the Rams is set for 7:00 p.m.
