Knights Set For Skyline Conference Clashes With Sarah Lawrence, St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn

Knights in search of first win since September 28

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team continues the Skyline Conference schedule this week with a road match at Sarah Lawrence on Monday and a home tilt with St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Wednesday. Both matches are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with Live Stats and Video available for those who cannot attend.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary is in the midst of an eight-match losing streak, with its last win coming in four sets against Maritime on September 28. The Knights head to Sarah Lawrence on Monday night sporting a 7-16 overall record and a 2-5 mark against conference rivals.
 
Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) is the only Mount Saint Mary player with better than 200 kills on the season, beginning the week with a team-high 243 winners. Riddle also leads the team in service aces with 49 and checks in second on the squad in digs with 214 and total  blocks with 27. Through 21 matches, Riddle is averaging an even 3.00 kills per frame and 2.64 digs per set.
 
Senior Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) and junior Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) round out a trio of Knights in triple-figures in kills with 133 and 119, respectively. Burke leads the Mount with 50 total blocks and adds 23 aces, while Kralik begins the week with 113 digs and 12 total blocks.
 
Senior Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) and rookie Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) have handled the setting duties for the Knights in 2019, with Mazzurco handing out 304 helpers, averaging 5.43 helpers per set. Mazzurco is also chipping in 23 service aces. Cammarata has handed out 240 helpers to date for the Knights, averaging an even 4.00 assists per set.
 
Sophomore Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) paces the Mount with 327 digs, producing 4.30 per set, and checks in second on the squad with 36 service aces. Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) is good for 72 kills, 129 digs and 27 aces, while Danielle Guarasci (Plainview, N.Y.) contributes 48 kills and 19 total blocks.
 
Last Time Out: The Knights took to the road on Saturday and suffered a 20-25, 20-25, 18-25 loss at St. Joseph's-L.I.
 
Riddle finished the day with 12 of the team's 19 kills, adding seven digs, a block and half of the team's six service aces. Guarasci and Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) each posted a pair of kills, with Guarasci adding five blocks and Hydo lifting five digs.
 
Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) handed out 14 assists for the Knights, while Barbara led the team with 14 digs to go along with a pair of service aces.
 
St. Joseph's received 10 kills apiece from Young and Goldstein with each player hitting better than .300 on the day. Brionna Silva led all players with 29 assists, while Danielle Senacal posted a match-high 19 digs. Goldstein and Williams finished the day with four blocks apiece for the Golden Eagles.
 
Overall, St. Joseph's held the advantage in the match in kills 35-19, service aces 10-6 and total team blocks 7-2. St. Joseph's hit .178 for the match, while the Knights were limited to a -.039 attack percentage.
 
Gauging The Gryphons: Sarah Lawrence opens the week sporting an even 12-12 overall record and a 5-2 mark against Skyline Conference opponents. The Gryphons snapped a three-match losing streak on October 17 when it swept Maritime in a home contest.
 
Sarah Lawrence is led by 246 kills, 3.19 winners per set, from Melanie Coleman who also sits atop the team leaderboard in service aces with 58 and total blocks with 41.
 
Isabel Pecora has handed out 465 helpers for Sarah Lawrence, good for better than six per frame, and is one of three players with better than 200 digs on the season with 227. Clarise Steiner leads the way on the back row with 352 digs for the Gryphons, averaging 4.57 digs per set.
 
Recent History: Since the start of the 2007 season, the two sides have hooked up seven times with the Mount scoring the victory in each meeting. The Knights have dropped just one set to the Gryphons over that stretch, posting a 3-1 win at the Kaplan Center on September 24, 2016.
 
Scouting St. Joseph's: The Bears enter a Monday night contest with Farmingdale State with a 7-8 overall record, including a 4-3 mark against league opponents. The Bears have split their last four outings and dropped four of their last six overall.
 
Christina Morales leads the offensive attack with 110 kills on the season, averaging 2.29 winners per set. Briana Marrazzo paces the squad with 40 service aces and begins the week as the team's leader in total blocks with 11.
 
Kaitlyn Intindola has handed out a team best 257 assists for the Bears, while Valentina Urgo leads the way with 170 digs, averaging just shy of four digs per set.
 
Recent History: St. Joseph's and Mount Saint Mary will meet for the fifth time since the start of the 2015 season on Wednesday with the Mount taking each of the previous four meetings. The Knights have dropped just a single set to the Bears over the stretch, winning 3-1 at Old Westbury on September 27, 2015.
 
League Leaders: Riddle continues to sit within the top-10 in a pair of categories for the Knights, ranking sixth in kills per set and eighth in service aces per set. Mazzurco enters the week seventh in assists per set, while Burke and Barbara begin the week ranked third and fourth in total blocks and digs per frame, respectively.
 
For Sarah Lawrence, Coleman ranks fourth in aces per set, fifth in kills per set and seventh in total blocks per set, while Pecora sits sixth in assists per set and Steiner ranks second in digs per frame.
 
For the Bears, Mazzaro enters the week third in the league in aces per set, while Intindola sits eighth in assists per set. Urgo and Morales find themselves ranked eighth and ninth in the conference in digs per frame for the Bears.
 
What's Next: The Knights host a non-conference tri-match on October 26 when they welcome William Paterson and John Jay to the Kaplan Center.
