Women’s Volleyball Travels To St. Joseph’s-L.I. Saturday Afternoon

Knights look to stop seven match losing streak

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team will look to stop a seven match losing streak on Saturday when it travels to St. Joseph's-L.I. for an important Skyline Conference contest with the Golden Eagles. First serve in Patchogue is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. with Live Stats available for those who are unable to make the trip.
 
At A Glance: The Mount has not won a match since topping Maritime in four sets on September 28 and enters Saturday's contest at 7-15 overall on the season and 2-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights are coming off a straight set loss to Manhattanville on Tuesday night, giving them three straight conference defeats.
 
Freshman Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) has put away a team-high 231 kills through 22 matches and also sits atop the team leaderboard with 46 service aces. Riddle is averaging 2.96 kills per set and has reached double-figures in kills 11 times this season, including each of the last four outings. Putting together a strong all-around season, Riddle ranks second on the team with 207 digs and in total blocks with 26.
 
Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) leads the way for the Knights with 50 total blocks and ranks second on the team in kills with 133 and tied for fourth in service aces with 23. Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) checks in with 119 winners for the Mount to go along with 111 digs and 11 total blocks.
 
Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) and Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) have handled the setting duties in 2019, with Mazzurco totaling a team-high 290 helpers to go along with 23 aces. Cammarata has handed out 239 helpers to date for the Knights.
 
Sophomore Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) leads all players on the team with 313 digs, averaging better than four per set, and is chipping in 34 service aces. Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) contributes 124 digs, 70 kills and 27 aces, while Danielle Guarasci (Plainview, N.Y.) is good for 46 kills and 19 total blocks.

Last Time Out: The Knights played host to league frontrunner Manhattanville on Tuesday and suffered a 23-25, 24-26, 9-25 loss to the Valiants.
 
Burke reached double-figures in kills for the second time in the last three matches, closing the match hitting .348 in 23 attempts. She added a block and a service ace for the Knights on the evening.
 
Riddle continued her strong rookie season, posting double-figures in winners for the fourth straight outing. She finished off a solid all-around night with nine digs for the Mount to go along with a service ace.

Kralik put away eight winners and lifted two digs for the Mount, while Guarasci Hydo put away four kills apiece. Hydo added eight digs for the Mount, with Guarasci posting a block.
 
Mazzurco handed out 29 assists and Barbara lifted a team-high 14 digs to go along with a pair of assists and two aces.
 
Scouting St. Joseph's-L.I. – The Golden Eagles enter play on Saturday at 9-10 overall, but 4-1 against conference foes. St. Joseph's had a six match winning streak stopped on Tuesday following a straight set road loss at USMMA.
 
Amanda Goldstein leads the team's offensive attack with 174 kills to date and joins Jessica Young with a team-high 32 total blocks. Brionna Silva supports the offense with 519 assists, averaging 8.37 helpers per set.
 
Melanie O'Hoppe leads the team with 26 service aces entering the weekend, while Danielle Sencal anchors the back row with 286 digs, lifting 4.61 per frame.
 
League Leaders: Riddle continues to rank within the top-10 in a pair of categories for the Knights, sitting sixth in kills per set and 10th in service aces per frame. Burke is third among the conference leaders in total blocks per set and Barbara ranks fourth in digs per stanza. Mazzurco enters the weekend ranked seventh in assists per set for the Knights.
 
Senecal is the league leader in digs per set for the Golden Eagles, with Silva sitting third in assists per set. Goldstein ranks eight in kills per set and along with Young is tied for sixth in total blocks per set.
 
Recent History: The two sides have met 15 times since the start of the 2007 season with the Mount holding a 9-6 record. The two teams have split the last six meetings with four of those decisions going to five sets. The Knights and Golden Eagles each won once in 2018 with the Knights posting a 3-2 regular season victory and St. Joseph's scoring a 3-1 triumph in the Skyline Conference Semifinal Round.
 
What's Next: The Knights play four times next week, traveling to Sarah Lawrence on Monday and hosting St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Wednesday. The Mount wraps up the week with a non-conference tri-match with John Jay and William Paterson on Saturday.
