Men's Soccer Set For Skyline Matchup With Farmingdale State

Knights have won five straight games entering Tuesday

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team heads to Long Island to take on Skyline rival Farmingdale State on Tuesday afternoon. Kick-off with the Rams is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. with Live Stats and Video available for those unable to attend. 

At A Glance: The Knights enter Tuesday's contest as winners of five straight after defeating Sarah Lawrence 6-1 at home on Senior Day on Saturday. The Mount is 9-4-1 overall this season and 6-0-1 in Skyline action.

Sophomore Connor Doyle (New Windsor, N.Y.) continues to lead the Knights in goals with 10 and points with 23. Senior Joey Dolan (Highland, N.Y.) is second on the team in points with 18 as he and sophomore Matt Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.) have each tallied eight goals this season. Freshman Peter Ramirez (New Windsor, N.Y.) holds the team standard in assists with five as 12 total players have registed an assist for the Mount.

Junior Tyler Rapp (East Berne, N.Y.) has started 13 of the 14 games for Mount Saint Mary and he is third in the conference in goals against average at 1.31. He has made 55 saves this season and is second in save percentage at .775.

Last Time Out: Led by two goals each from Dolan and Doyle and four points from freshman Ramirez, the Mount cruised to its fifth straight win with a 6-1 triumph over Sarah Lawrence on Senior Day.
 
The Knights got all the scoring they would need over a five-minute stretch early in the first half on Saturday. Doyle got the scoring started in the 14th minute when he banged home his own rebound at 13:36 for his team leading ninth goal of the season and Dolan followed that up with his seventh marker of the season at 18:14 off a feed from Ramirez to give the Knights a quick 2-0 lead.
 
Coming out of the intermission, the Mount spread its lead to three goals in the 51st minute and then struck twice in 36 seconds in to open up a commanding 5-0 goal advantage. Ramirez started the second half scoring barrage with his second off the year off a feed from Ismael Bravo (Middletown, N.Y.) at 50:12 before Doyle and Dolan each scored for the second time in the game. Doyle finished off a feed from Joseph Mesoraca (Oceanside, N.Y.) at 58:53 before Doyle banged home a pass from Ramirez at 59:29.
 
Sarah Lawrence cut the deficit to four goals with a Humza Obaid marker in the 64th minute, but the Mount responded just over 10 minutes later to finish off the scoring in the game. Wyant found the back of the net for the eighth time in 2019 at the 74:41 mark of the contest off a feed from Zidan Douglas (Middletown, N.Y.) to give the Knights the final five goal advantage.
 
Rapp picked up the win in goal, making five stops in just over 72 minutes of work. Sean Madden (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) came on to play the final 17:24 in net, making one stop for the Knights.

Scouting Farmingdale State: The Rams enter Tuesday's action with an 8-6 overall record and 5-1 in Skyline Conference play after defeating St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 6-0 on Saturday. Farmingdale is just 2-4 in home contests this season.

Alec Chapoteau and Carlos Rivera lead a balanced scoring attack with six goals apiece. Bryan Argueta and Chris Schmidt have each tallied five goals this season for the Rams. Alex Castano leads in assists with six as Robert Anastasio and Rivera each have added three helpers.

Justin Silva has played the majority of the minutes in goal for Farmingdale State as he has posted a goals against average with a 1.21. Silva has made 42 saves and has posted a .764 save percantage.

What's Next: The Knights are off until Tuesday, October 22 when they play host to the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Kick-off with the Mariners is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Kaplan Field.
