Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team returns home to take on Sarah Lawrence at 6:00 p.m. before hitting the road for a big Skyline matchup against Old Westbury on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
At a Glance: The Knights returned to the win column on Saturday as they defeated Farmingdale State to move to 9-4 overall and 6-0 in the Skyline Conference.
Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) leads the scoring attack with 11.3 points per game and averages 8.3 rebounds per contest. She needs 17 points for 1,000 for her career and 13 rebounds to tie the Mount Saint Mary career record for rebounds set by 2015 Hall of Fame inductee LaSheena Brown in the 2005-06 season.
Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) is second on the team in scoring with 9.5 per game,
Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) chips in 7.7 points and
Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) adds 7.6 per contest. Keenan also grabs 6.3 rebounds per game.
Toriana Tabasco (Hillsdale, N.J) has the team lead in steals with 15, Keenan is next with 14, Cleare has 11 and
Maite Gritsko (Milford, C.T.) has 10 this season. Cleare owns the team lead in blocks with 11 and Limonta has nine on the season.
The Mount is averaging 59.1 points per game on 36.6-percent shooting from the field and 26.8-percent shooting from three. They have allowed only 53.8 per night on 30.5-percent shooting and 25.3-percent shooting from the three-point line.
Last Time Out: The Mount returned to the win column on Saturday, defeating Farmingdale State 59-37 to extend the Knights undefeated conference record to 6-0.
Cleare finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points and securing 13 rebounds to lead the Knights. She finished the day 4-for-10 from the field and buried four free throws to secure her double-double. Desrats and
Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.) each added nine points with Bojka having a team-high three steals and two rebounds and Desrats adding four rebounds. Tabasco chipped in seven points and five rebounds and
Gabriella Rafaniello (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a career-high four points and six rebounds.
The Mount outshot the Rams 34.5-percent to 20.0-percent and buried one more three than the Rams. The Knights finished the game with 11 more free throws and outscored Farmingdale 22-16 in the paint. Mount Saint Mary finished with a 19-15 advantage in points off turnovers and grabbed eight more offensive rebounds.
A Look At Sarah Lawrence: The Gryphons are winless at 0-12 (0-8 Skyline) this season following a 97-37 loss to Old Westbury on Saturday.
Sarah Lawrence has three double digit scorers with Taryn Penna leading with 15.7 points per game, Camryn Davis averages 14.1 per contest and Emmamazy Prior adds 11.2 per game.
Prior is the leading rebounder with 8.4 per game, Melanie Coleman averages 7.7 per night and Davis chips in 5.8 per contest. Davis is the assist leader with 28 on the season and Tess Carrier is second with 15.
Davis is also the leader in steals with 32, and Penna has 20 on the season while Coleman is the blocks leader with 18.
The Gryphons are averaging 48.0 points per game on 29.7-percent from the field and 21.0-percent from the three-point stripe. They are allowing 80.0 points per contest on 40.5-percent from the field and 26.4-percent from the three-point arc.
Scouting Old Westbury: The Panthers are 11-1 (5-1 Skyline) following a 97-37 victory over Sarah Lawrence on Saturday. They will take on USMMA on Tuesday before hosting the Knights on Thursday.
The Panthers are led by Charlotte Renker, who is averaging a double-double with 14.1 points per game and 12.8 rebounds per game. Monique Joseph is the leading scorer with 16.4 points per contest and chips in 7.8 rebounds per contest while Davida Warren is averaging 12.5 points per night and 9.8 rebounds per game.
Tori Bellings is the leader in assists with 74 and Joseph has 40 helpers on the season. Joseph is also the leader in steals with 61, which is the nation's top mark in steals per game, with Renker being the blocks leader with 20 and Warren has 11 this season.
Old Westbury is averaging 82.7 points per game on 44.7-percent from the field and 31.3-percent from the three-point line. Defensively, they are allowing just 49.8 points per contest on 28.6-percent from the field and 28.8-percent from the three-point arc.
