Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team plays host to Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. before hitting the road on Thursday night to take on Purchase at 6:00 p.m.
At a Glance: The Knights have won five straight games and are still unbeaten in conference contests after defeating St. Joseph's-L.I. 85-39 on Tuesday night.
Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) leads the scoring attack with 11.3 points per game,
Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) is second on the team in scoring with 10.4 per game,
Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) chips in 7.8 points and
Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) adds 7.1 per contest.
Cleare is the leading rebounder with 8.3 per game, Keenan averages 6.5 per contest and
Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.) adds 3.7 per game. Smith is the leader in assists with 45, Desrats has 39 and Gritsko has 25 on the season.
Toriana Tabasco (Hillsdale, N.J) leads in steals with 21,
Maite Gritsko (Milford, C.T.) has 19, Keenan has 18 on the season. Cleare owns the team lead in blocks with 17 and Keenan has six on the season.
The Mount is averaging 61.4 points per game on 37.5-percent shooting from the field and 27.4-percent shooting from three. They are third in the conference in scoring offense, averaging 68.3 points per contest in conference contests.
They have allowed only 51.9 per night on 30.7-percent shooting and 26.9-percent shooting from the three-point line. The Knights have only allowed 49.0 per game in conference play, good for second in the Skyline.
Last Time Out: The Mount dominated the second half to cruise to an 85-39 victory over St. Joseph's-L.I. to extend its winning streak to five games. Cleare and Desrats led a balanced attack, scoring 14 points each for the Knights.
Desrats finished the contest with a career-high 14 points on 6-for-10 from the field, adding four assists and three rebounds. Cleare was 6-for-12 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Pace added 11 points while Bojka chipped in eight points and six rebounds.
Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) had five points, four assists and four rebounds while Keenan finished with nine points and four boards.
The Knights finished the night shooting a season-high 52.9-percent from the field and held St. Joseph's-L.I. to 28.3-percent shooting. The Mount outscored the Golden Eagles 14-3 in points off turnovers, outscored them 44-8 in points in the paint and outscored them in fast break points 24-2. Mount Saint Mary scored 43 points off the bench in the contest.
A Look At Mount Saint Vincent: The Dolphins are 4-10 (3-6 Skyline) on the season following a 79-53 victory over Sarah Lawrence in their last outing. In their last meeting, the Knights defeated Mount Saint Vincent 72-45 in Riverdale on December 6.
Aria Rheams is the leader for the Dolphins, averaging a double-double on the season with 13.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest. Yamilersy Reyes adds 8.2 points per contest and Aaliyah Lyn chips in 7.2 per game.
Dez Brown averages 6.0 rebounds per game and Lyn adds 4.2 per contest. Reyes and Leah Pinilli are tied for assists with 38 apiece.
Reyes is the leader in steals with 38, Rheams has 25, and Brown has 16 on the season. Rhemas is the blocks leader with seven, Brown has six and Reyes has three.
Mount Saint Vincent averages 54.1 points per game on 32.3-percent from the field and 24.5-percent from the three-point line. Defensively, they are allowing 63.4 points per contest on 35.1-percent from the field and 26.8-percent from three.
Scouting Purchase: The Panthers are 7-7 (5-4 Skyline) on the season following an 80-56 loss against Old Westbury. They will take on Sarah Lawrence on Saturday before hosting the Knights. In their last meeting, the Knights defeated the Panthers 62-53 in Newburgh on December 4.
The Panthers are paced by Amber Jones who is fourth in the conference in points per game with 18.9. Shadai Plowden averages 9.8 per contest and Dejeana Peoples chips in 7.2 per game. Nyasia Harris is the leader in rebounds with 8.9 per game and Jones adds 5.5 per contest.
Jones is also the leader in assists with 54 and Amber Yarter has 30 on the season. Jones leads in steals with 38, Alfa DeJesus has 25 and Plowden has 20. Harris is the blocks leader with eight and Plowden has seven.
The Panthers are averaging 59.9 points per game on 33.7-percent from the field and 26.9-percent from three. Defensively, they are allowing 60.6 per contest on 33.6-percent from the field and 22.7-percent from the three-point line.
