Farmingdale N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team saw its four match winning streak was snapped on Tuesday night. The Knights were swept in their first Skyline match against Farmingdale State by scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-20.
The Knights were held to a .026 hitting percentage by the Rams, with the home standing Rams hitting .146 on the night.
Madelyn Barberan (Fishkill, N.Y.) led in kills with nine, hitting at a team high .194 and
Alex Klesin (Glendale, N.Y.) recorded eight kills in the loss. Kelsey Volikis lead in kills for Farmingdale with 12 and hit at a .364 clip.
Klaire Wall (Point Pleasant, N.J.) recorded a match-high 17 digs on the night for the Mount, with Barberan adding 15 digs to pace the Knights defensively.
Kim Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) led the Knights in assists with 22.
Farmingdale held a 10-4 blocks advantage on the night with Volikis recording three solo blocks, also assisting on four others. Annie Cosgrove contributed with four block assists. Gries,
Nicole Spinelli (Wantagh, N.Y.), and
Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) shared the blocks lead with two apiece for the Mount.
The Rams also held a slim kills advantage, 31-29, as well as a 29-26 assists advantage.
Mount Saint Mary returns to action at home on Thursday night against New Jersey City. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
