Delhi, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit on Wednesday night to score at hard fought 25-16, 19-25, 21-25, 26-24, 15-12 non-conference win at SUNY Delhi. Three Knights posted career-highs in kills for the Mount, while senior
Kim Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) handed out a career-high 52 assists.
The Mount got off to a good start in the match, registering 10 kills in the opening stanza to jump out to a 1-0 lead. After the Broncos responded with the next two sets, the Knights erupted for 17 kills and hit .216 in the fourth frame to even the match. In the fifth set, the Knights recorded 13 more winners and broke a 12-12 tie in the deciding set with three straight kills from
Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.).
Kralik was one of three Knights to post a career-high kill total and one of four Mount players to reach double-figures in the category. She put away 13 kills and lifted a career-high 18 digs to go along with three service aces in the victory.
Senior
Alex Klesin (Glendale, N.Y.) continued her strong play with a career-high 14 kills, adding a career-high 21 digs in a double-double effort.
Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) reached double-figures in kills for the first time in her career with 10, while
Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) put away 12 winners and recorded one block.
Gries eclipsed her previous career mark in helpers by two on Wednesday and closed out a double-double with 15 digs to go along with three service aces.
Klaire Wall (Point Pleasant, N.J.) lifted a career-high 24 digs for the Knights in the win and contributed two service aces.
Delhi was led by 12 kills from Caitlyn Curcurito and 10 winners from Taylor Tsatsis who added 12 digs. Erica Prindle handed out 25 assists for the Broncos with Kristen Maslanka leading the way with 16 digs.
For the match, Mount Saint Mary put away 62 kills and hit .168 as a unit. The Knights held the advantage in aces 10-5, while the Broncos finished with a slim 4-3 edge in total team blocks.
Wednesday's win pushes Mount Saint Mary to 4-8 overall on the season. The Mount returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Hackettstown, N.J. to take on Centenary and Notre Dame of Maryland.
