Baseball Earns Split At Purchase

Keenan connects on third home run in game two

Purchase, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team continued Skyline Conference play on Tuesday evening, splitting a road set at Purchase. The Knights dropped game one 4-2, but rebounded to score at 12-3 game victory over the Panthers. Senior Blake Keenan (Fishkill, N.Y.) belted his team leading third home run of the season in the Mount's victory.

Game 1: Purchase 4 – Mount Saint Mary 2
The Knights got off to a quick start in the opener, plating a run in their first at-bat to jump in front 1-0. John Santana (Warwick, N.Y.) ripped a two-out double to start the rally and Christopher Introcaso (Newburgh, N.Y.) chased him home with a single to open the scoring.

The one run lead held until the home half of the fifth inning when the Panthers plated a pair of runs. Purchase loaded the bases with no one out and got on the board following a bases loaded walk from Gregory Walsh. The Panthers jumped in front 2-1 a batter later when Dylan Flynn delivered a run on a sacrifice fly.

Purchase spread it leads to 4-1 in the seventh when Brian Cunningham delivered a two-run, two-out double. The Mount got a run closer in the ninth on a sacrifice fly from Kevin Edgar (Southampton, N.Y.),  but could not get another base runner in the inning.
