Riverdale, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse team won its seventh straight game and matched the program's standard for wins in a season with 10 on Saturday afternoon with an impressive 22-5 road win at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Five Knights finished with four points in the game.
The Knights put the game away early on Saturday, scoring the first eight goals of the game and outscoring the Dolphins 9-2 in the opening 15 minutes. The Knights poured in eight more goals in the second stanza to carry a commanding 17-4 lead into the intermission.
The Mount held the advantage in shots at the break 27-10 and dominated groundballs in the opening 20 minutes, 31-16. Face-offs in the first half went to the Knights 13-10.
The Knights did not allow a goal in the third frame, with
Anthony Kearns (Clinton, N.J.) scoring the only goal of the period. The Knights closed out the scoring with four of the five goals in the final 15 minutes, including a goal and an assist from
Thomas Bahmer III (East Brunswick, N.J.).
Nicholas Graziano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and
Ryan Maraio (Staten Island, N.Y.) finished the game with three goals and an assist, with
Dylan De Meo (Franklin Square, N.Y.),
Richard Maher (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) and Bahmer all registering two goals and two assists.
Kenneth Gallagher (Northport, N.Y.) finished the game with three goals, with
Tristan Earle (Millrift, Pa.) and
Danny Kugler (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) both scoring twice and posting three points.
Gallagher finished the day with 17 face-offs wins for the Mount to go along with eight groundballs with
Peter Beidl (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and De Meo each scooping five groundballs. Beidl, De Meo and
Mark Andreacchi (East Northport, N.Y.) all caused three turnovers for the Knights.
Senior
Christopher Doerr (Pleasantville, N.Y.) earned the win in goal with a pair of stops in 45 minutes, with
Eli Laikin (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) and
Alec Durkin (Mattituck, N.Y.) combining for three stops in the final period.
Mount Saint Mary controlled every statistical category in the game, outshooting the Dolphins 46-23, winning the groundball battle 49-26 and winning 17 of the 30 face-offs. The Knights rounded out the day a perfect 16-for-16 in clearing chances.
At 10-4 overall on the season and 4-0 in conference play, the Knights will look for their eighth straight win at Bard on Tuesday. Face-off with the Raptors is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
