Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team played their first match of the spring season on Friday, suffering a 6-3 defeat to visiting Baruch. Sophomore
Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) and freshman
Emily Quinn (Montgomery, N.Y.) each picked up singles wins for the Knights.
Carnovale moved to 13-5 in singles play on Friday with a win at the top flight for the Knights. She scored a 6-3, 6-0 win to open spring play for the Knights. Quinn earned her fourth singles win of the season for the Mount, outlasting her opponent from Baruch at the fifth position by scores of 2-6, 6-3, 10-7.
The Mount's lone doubles win came at the top spot on Friday from the duo of Carnovale and
Victoria Clay (Saint James, N.Y.). The duo moved to 10-8 overall together with an 8-4 win over the Bearcats on Friday.
Friday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 8-10 overall on the season.
