Wappingers Falls, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team got back into the win column on Monday night with an 11-4 non-conference win over Lehman at Dutchess Stadium. Three Knights recorded two hits in the game, including
Blake Keenan (Fishkill, N.Y.) who drove in a pair of runs.
The Knights broke the game open early, scoring nine of their 11 runs in their first two at-bats. Keenan highlighted a five-run first inning for the Knights with a two-run triple down the right field line with
Nick Rizzo (Smithtown, N.Y.) and
Tom Huvane (Eastchester, N.Y.) leading the way in a four-run second with RBI extra base hits.
After the Lightning scored three straight runs to get to within 9-3 in the fifth, the Knights answered with run scoring doubles from
Chris McLaren (Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y.) and
John Santana (Warwick, N.Y.) in the home half of the fifth and seventh innings to send the Mount to a season-high run total.
The Mount outhit Lehman 10-8 in the game and finished with seven extra base hits, including a double and a triple from Keenan. He rounded out the night 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI, while
Jack Goodwin (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) ripped his second triple of the season and finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs out of the leadoff spot.
Huvane finished the night 2-for-3 with a triple and RBI to go along with two runs scored. Rizzo and Santana both doubled and scored twice to go along with a stolen base.
Anthony Rizzo (Smithtown, N.Y.) and McLaren both finished with a hit and RBI for the Mount.
Senior
Ryan Hayes (Robinsville, N.J.) picked up his first win of the season for the Mount, working the first four innings in a designated bullpen game. He allowed a single run on three hits and struck out five.
Sal Rizzo (Smithtown, N.Y.) worked three innings of relief, while
Anthony Collura (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and
Andrew Connors (New Windsor, N.Y.) worked scoreless innings to close the game.
At 3-4 overall on the season, the Mount looks to get to the .500 mark overall on Thursday when it plays host to Manhattanville. First pitch at Dutchess Stadium is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
