Nocera Nets 20 In Road Loss At Farmingdale State

Senior made six three-pointers against Rams

Farmingdale, N.Y. – Senior Gerard Nocera (Holmdel, N.J.) was the lone Knight to score in double-figures on Saturday, netting a game-high 20 points in a 75-54 road Skyline Conference loss at Farmingdale State.
 
The Mount led for much of the first half on Saturday, trailing only briefly after a Troy Fenney triple pushed the Rams in front 6-3. After the score was tied at 14-14 on a Matthew Graham conversion with 14:37 left before halftime, the Knights used a 9-2 run to push in front 23-16 on a Tyler McDine (Suffern, N.Y.) three-pointer with 8:07 remaining in the first half.
 
Mount Saint Mary matched the half-high seven-point lead two more times, before the Rams closed the half on a 7-2 run to close their deficit to 30-28 heading into the intermission. The Knights were held to just a single field goal over the final five minutes of the first half, a McDine jumper with 97 seconds left before the break.
 
Both teams shot better than 40-percent over the opening 20 minutes, with the Knights shooting 40.7-percent and the Rams converting at 42.9-percent. The Mount hit eight three-pointers in the opening stanza with McDine and Nocera combing to go 5-for-8 from bonus distance.
 
After hitting eight triples in the opening half, the Knights cooled to 5-for-22 from behind the arc after halftime, while Farmingdale State went 5-for-10 from three-point range and shot nearly 62-percent overall after halftime. The Rams broke the game open with a 16-0 run started by an Anthony Miller triple that pushed the Rams in front 55-48 with 7:54 left in regulation time.
 
The Mount was held without a field goal after a three-pointer from Nocera with just over eight minutes left in the second half until another Nocera three-pointer with 3:44 left in regulation time. The final Nocera three-pointer was the Mount's final field goal of the afternoon.
 
Mount Saint Mary was held to 25.8-percenet shooting in the second half with Nocera connecting on three of the team's five three-pointers. Matthew Graham finished the second half 6-for-9 for Farmingdale State, netting 13 second half points.
 
Nocera rounded out the game shooting 7-for-13 overall and 6-for-12 from three-point range for the Mount, adding a rebound and an assist. McDine and Daniel Wolff (Holtsville, N.Y.) each scored eight points in the game with McDine leading the Knights with six rebounds and six assists.
 
Farmingdale State was led by a team-high 19 points from Graham who finished up 9-for-13 from the floor. Ali Mableton chipped in with 14 points and six assists, while George Riefenstahl posted 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
 
Mount Saint Mary finished the game shooting 32.8-percent overall, while the Rams converted at nearly 52-percent and held a 44-12 advantage in paint points and a 21-7 edge in points off turnovers.
 
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 8-12 overall on the season and to 8-7 in Skyline Conference play. Next up for the Knights is a home date with St. Joseph's-L.I. on Monday. Tip-off with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
