Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.) led six players in double-figures with a career-high 15 points and the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team scored 100 points in a game for the first time since 2011 with a 104-41 road win at Sarah Lawrence on Saturday, the team's 14
th straight victory.
The Knights were never tested in the game after opening the contest on a 13-0 run over the opening 3:05 of the tilt. The Knights scored 38 points in the opening 10 minutes of action, allowing only four field goals in the opening stanza.
Mount Saint Mary shot a blistering 60-percent over the first half on Saturday, grabbing a 58-16 advantage at the intermission. After not connecting on a three-pointer in its last outing, the Mount hit seven triples in the first half on Saturday, including a 3-for-5 effort from
Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) who led the Knights with 11 first half points.
The Mount continued its efficient shooting after halftime, hitting five more three-pointers and shooting 51.3-percent overall in the final 20 minutes. 11 different players found the scoring column for the Knights after halftime, led by eight points from Bojka.
Mount Saint Mary finished Saturday's tilt with a season-high 104 points, making a season-high 12 three-point field goals. The Knights saw Sarah Lawrence shoot 42.4-percent, but made 30 more baskets and limited the Gryphons to only 33 attempts.
Bojka reached double-figures for the second time this season, finishing 7-for-8 from the floor to go along with four assists and four steals. She was one of four starters to reach double-figures, with Smith adding 14 points,
Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) adding 11 and
Jessica Rini (Seaford, N.Y.) totaling 10 points. Smith and
Jordyn Hellpap (Hackensack, N.J.) each handed out four assists with Smith swiping three steals.
Elizabeth Limonta (Stewart Manor, N.Y.) came off the bench to net 14 points and lead the team with seven rebounds, with
Janae Graham (Orange, Conn.) hitting three triples on her way to 12 points.
Dorothy Tighe (Walden, N.Y.) rounded out the day with four rebounds, four points and three steals for the Knights.
Mount Saint Mary shot 55.7-percent for the game and connected on better than 41-percent from three-point range. The Knights outscored the Gryphons 56-10 in the paint and 46-9 in points off of turnovers. The Knights assisted on 27 baskets on Saturday with nine players handing out at least two assists.
At 20-5 overall, the Mount's first 20-win season since 2011-12, the Knights will be back in action on Thursday for the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Championship. The Mount will host the winner of Tuesday's College of Mount Saint Vincent and USMMA contest at 7:00 p.m.
