Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team begins a two game home stand against Old Westbury on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and concludes it against Purchase on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
At A Glance: The Knights are 3-1 (1-1 Skyline) on the season after suffering their first loss to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday.
Kendall Francis (Great Neck, N.Y.) is the leading scorer with 23.3 points per game,
Paul Sienke (Washington, D.C.) is second with 14.9 and
Jameson Morton (Woodstock, N.Y.) is third with 8.5.
Connor Bacci (Bayside, N.Y.) is the leading rebounder with 5.5 per night, Francis and
Ethan Fox (Wallingford, Conn.) have each added 5.3 and Sienke is averaging 4.8 per contest.
Francis has the team lead in assists with 15, while Bacci has 11 and Morton has eight. Fox leads the team in blocks with six and Francis also leads in steals with seven.
As a team, the Mount is shooting 46.3-percent from the field and 32.9-percent from the three-point line, averaging 74.5 points per game. Defensively, the Mount is holding teams to 41.0-percent and 31.5-percent from the three-point line, allowing 71.3 points per night.
Last Time Out: The Mount lost a hard-fought 98-94 overtime game against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn for their first defeat of the season.
Francis continued his stellar start to the season with a career-high 31 points on 7-for-21 shooting overall, including four triples, and a 13-for-15 effort from the free-throw line. He added five rebounds and a team-high six assists on the day.
Sienke added a career-high 18 points, going 7-for-8 from the floor, with Morton coming off the bench to produce a career-high 22 points on 9-for-12 shooting. Morton contributed four assists and a rebound for the Knights. Mikos finished off his second straight game in double-figures with 12 points and four rebounds.
Mount Saint Mary finished the day shooting 49.3-percent from the floor but finished up just 5-for-21 from three-point range. The Bears outscored the Mount by nine from the free-throw line and made one more three-point field goal on the day.
A Look At Old Westbury: The Panthers are 3-2 (2-1 Skyline) following a 83-66 victory over Maritime on Thursday.
Old Westbury has three players that average double figures with Alan McDonald averaging 22.8 points per game. Pedro Marquez averages 19.0 and Justin Alleyne-Washington averages 17.0. McDonald is averaging a double-double with 10.4 rebounds along with his 22.8 points per game. Stanley Baker averages 8.0 rebounds per game and Yancy Ulysse averages 7.7 rebounds per contest.
Marquez leads in assists with 4.0 per contest, McDonald is second with 2.2 assists and Mike Snowden is third with 1.8 assists per night. McDonald also leads in steals with seven and Ulysse is the blocks leader with eight.
The Panthers average 83.4 points per game on 40.0-percent shooting from the field and 34.6-percent from the three-point line. They allow 79.8 points per game on 40.9-percent shooting from the field and 37.1-percent from the three-point line.
Scouting Purchase: The Panthers have started the season at 4-2 (2-1 Skyline) following a 95-71 loss to Yeshiva on Thursday. They will take on Farmingdale State on Saturday afternoon.
Purchase has three players averaging double figures including Elijah Lott, who is the team's leading scorer with 20.9 points per game. Michael Soffer is averaging 12.9 per contest and Maxx Miller is averaging 12.4 per night.
Lott is the leading assist man with 5.0 per game and leads in rebounds with 9.3 per contest. Miller is second in rebounds with 5.9 and third in assists with 2.4. Jordan Knochen is second in assists with 2.7. Lott and Soffer are tied for the team lead in steals with nine, Willie Britton has eight and Maxx Miller has seven. Mike Felix is the leader in blocks with 11.
