Knights Remain Unbeaten In Conference Play; Win Fifth Straight Over Dolphins

Tabasco leads the way with a career-high 14 points

Riverdale, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team won its fifth straight game on Thursday night, defeating the College of Mount Saint Vincent in convincing fashion 72-45. Toriana Tabasco (Hillsdale, N.J) led the way with a career-high 14 points for the Knights.

After Mount Saint Vincent started the first quarter on a 7-0 run, the Knights responded by dominating the rest of the period, outscoring the Dolphins 18-2. The Mount continued to control the game in the second quarter as they finished the half with a 30-17 lead. Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) scored 10 points in the half, knocking down two three-pointers.

The story remained the same in the third stanza as the Mount's lead grew to 25 points following an Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) layup on a Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) assist. The quarter finished with a 50-26 lead in favor of Mount Saint Mary.
 
The Knights held serve in the fourth period, as they cruised to a 27 point victory. Tabasco scored 12 points after halftime to finish with her career-high 14 points.

Desrats finished the night with 13 points, three rebounds and two steals, while Tabasco added three steals, two assists and four rebounds. Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) finished with 10 points, three steals and three rebounds. Elizabeth Limonta (Stewart Manor, N.Y.) had a team-high nine rebounds in the contest.

Aria Rheams led the Dolphins with 16 points and nine rebounds while Aaliyah Lyn added 10 points, four assists and four rebounds.

Mount Saint Mary finished the night shooting 49.2-percent from the field and scored 46 points in the paint. The Mount held Mount Saint Vincent to 27.3-percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers. The Knights scored 24 points off turnovers and converted 21 second chance points.

At 6-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play this season, Mount Saint Mary returns home to take on defending conference champion Old Westbury on Saturday. Tip-off at the Kaplan Center is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
