Knights Continue Skyline Conference Play Against Purchase, Mount Saint Vincent

Knights looking to extend three game win streak

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team looks to keep its three-game winning streak alive at home against Purchase at 7 p.m. before going on the road Thursday night to take on the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 6 p.m.

At a Glance: The Knights come into the contest on a three-game winning streak following a victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday. The Mount is 4-2 (2-0 Skyline) this season.

Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) is the leading scorer with 12.0 per game and Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) is second with 11.8, Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) and Elizabeth Limonta (Stewart Manor, N.Y.) each average 8.2 points per contest.

Cleare leads in rebounding with 8.8, Limonta is second with 8.3 and Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) is third with 6.5. Smith leads in assists with 19 and Desrats has 12. Toriana Tabasco (Hillsdale, N.J.) and Keenan are tied for the lead in steals with nine. Limonta leads in blocks with seven.

The Mount is averaging 61.3 points per game on 36.8-percent shooting from the field and 27.5-percent shooting from three. They have allowed 55.3 per night on 30.8-percent shooting and 24.2-percent shooting from the three-point line.

Last Time Out: The Knights won their third consecutive game on Saturday, defeating St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 74-64 for their second road victory of the season.

Cleare finished with 23 points on 9-for-14 shooting and added seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Limonta finished the game with a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards and Desrats added 10 points, four rebounds and two assists. Smith chipped in seven points, seven assists and two rebounds while Keenan added seven points, five rebounds and three steals.

The Mount finished the game outshooting the Bears 44.6-percent to 32.8-percent and outrebounded St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 45-34. The Knights dominated in the paint, outscoring the Bears 36-8 in the lane. Mount Saint Mary converted 14 Bear turnovers into 17 points.

A Look at Purchase: The Panthers are 3-4 (1-1 Skyline) this season following an 87-49 victory over Sarah Lawrence on Saturday.

Amber Jones is their leader on offense with 19.1 points per game and 3.6 assists per game. She also is the leader in steals with 17 and is third in rebounds with 6.4 per night. Arta Krasniqi averages 9.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and has a team-high 22 blocks on the season.

Shadai Plowden scores 9.1 points per game and has 11 steals. Nyasia Harris is the leading rebounder with 7.9 per contest.

The Panthers average 57.9 points per game on 35.7-percent shooting from the field and 26.2-percent from the three-point arc. Defensively, they have allowed 60.4 points per night on 32.0-percent from the field and 24.2-percent from the three-point line.

Scouting Mount Saint Vincent: The Dolphins are 0-4 (0-2 Skyline) following a 62-52 loss to Yeshiva on Saturday night. They will take on Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday before playing the Mount on Thursday night.

Aria Rheams is the leading scorer with 12.3 points per contest, Aaliyah Lyn adds 9.0 points, Yamilersy Reyes averages 8.0 and Dez Brown chips in 7.0 per night. Rheams is also the leading rebounder with 9.0 per game and Lyn averages 5.8.

Kelly Oliver is the assist leader with 3.5 per night and Rheams and Reyes each add 2.8 per contest. Reyes leads the team in steals with 10 and Rheams is the blocks leader with four.

Mount Saint Vincent averages 50.3 points per game on 32.0-percent shooting from the field and 24.7percent from the three-point stripe. They allow an average of 74.5 points per contest on 38.8-percent shooting and 36.4-percent from the three-point line.

What's Next: The Knights return home to host the defending Skyline Conference Champions Old Westbury on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
