Knights Begin Six Game Road Trip against Mount Saint Vincent, Utica

Knights coming off back-to-back wins against Old Westbury and Purchase

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team begins a six game road trip as it travels to the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Utica on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

At A Glance: The Knights are 5-1 (3-1 Skyline) on the season following two straight Skyline Conference wins over Old Westbury and Purchase.

Kendall Francis (Great Neck, N.Y.) is the leading scorer with 23.5 points per game, Paul Sienke (Washington, D.C.) is second with 14.5, Jameson Morton (Woodstock, N.Y.) adds 8.2 per contest and Connor Bacci (Bayside, N.Y.) chips in 8.0.

Francis is also the leading rebounder with 5.7 per night, Bacci and Ethan Fox (Wallingford, C.T.) have each added 5.2 and Sienke is averaging 4.5 per contest.

Francis has the team lead in assists with 20, while Bacci has 17 and Tristan Millett (Allentown, N.J.) has 11. Fox leads the team in blocks with nine and Francis also leads in steals with nine, Bacci has eight and Sienke has seven.

As a team, the Mount is shooting 46.8-percent from the field and 34.8-percent from the three-point line, averaging 72.3 points per game. Defensively, the Mount is holding teams to 39.9-percent and 31.3-percent from the three-point line, allowing 67.8 points per night.

Last Time Out: The Mount won its second straight contest on Tuesday night, topping Purchase 55-46.

Francis led the way with 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting and finished with four rebounds. Sienke finished the night with 12 points on 4-for-8 shooting, four rebounds and four steals. Fox added eight points, five rebounds and two blocks, while Morton had a career-high eight rebounds.

The Mount outshot Purchase 42.9-percent to 30-percent from the field while the Panthers knocked down eight threes compared to just one for the Knights. Mount Saint Mary converted 21 Purchase turnovers into 24 points, outscored the Panthers 36-8 in the paint and scored 13 fast break points.

A Look At Mount Saint Vincent: The Dolphins are 4-4 (3-1 Skyline) this season after two straight wins against Sarah Lawrence and USMMA.

Kalos Evans is the scoring leader with 14.6 per game, Raiquis Harris is next with 14.5 and Jason Barrera averages 11.3 per contest. Barrera is the leading rebounder with 6.8 per game and Vinny Tavella chips in 5.8 per contest.

Harris is the leader in assists with 24, Makai Johnson has added 21 and Evans has chipped in 14 on the season. Evans is the steals leader with 16 and Harris and Tavella each have 13. Tavella has blocked six shots to lead Mount Saint Vincent.

The Dolphins average 73.6 points per game on 40.2-percent shooting from the field and 28.3-percent from the three-point line. Defensively, they give up 83.0 per contest on 43.7-percent from the field and 31.0-percent from the three-point arc.

Scouting Utica: The Pioneers are 5-1 overall this season after defeating Morrisville State on Saturday 80-70.

Utica has four players averaging double figures on the season including Shawn Gashi, who leads the team with 15.3 points per game. Darius Hopkins averages 11.2 per contest and Justin Strielkauskas and Kobe Lufkin each add 10.3 points per game.

Strielkauskas is the leading rebounder with 8.8 per contest and Avery Coston adds 5.4 per night. Gashi is the leader in assists with 20, Lufkin has nine and Coston is third with eight. Lufkin leads in steals with nine and Gashi, Coston and Strielkauskas have seven apiece. Strielkauskas is the blocks leader with eight and Kimedrick Murphy has five.

Utica averages 75.7 points per game on 40.9-percent shooting from the field and 34.8-percent from the three-point line. Defensively, they give up 70.0 points per game on 42.0-percent from the field and 28.3-percent from three.

What's Next: The Knights continue their road trip when they travel to Newport News, Va. to take part in the two game Captains Shootout, hosted by Christopher Newport, on December 28-29.
