Brooklyn, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team's season came to an end with a 12-25, 17-25, 16-25 loss in the ECAC tournament against New York University on Wednesday night. Junior
Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) rounded out the night with a team-high seven kills.
Six players recorded a kill for the Mount, with
Madelyn Barberan (Fishkill, N.Y.) and
Alex Klesin (Glendale, N.Y.) each recording five winners,
Nicole Spinelli (Wantagh, N.Y.) registering two kills and
Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) and
Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) each putting away one kill for the Knights.
Barberan paced the Knights with six digs in the contest with
Kim Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) and
Lauren LeGere (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) finishing off the match with three digs. Six other players record two digs on the match.
Klesin and Spinelli each had a block in the match with Gries limited to 16 assists.
Jenny Picarillo (Troy, N.Y.) finished with the only service ace on the night.
NYU was led by nine kills from Abby Ausmus, eight from Gretchen Kincade, and seven from Emily Kleck and Maddie DeJong. Stella Alverson lead all players with 20 assists with Katie Goyette recording 16 assists on the night with Jacqueline Kupeli lifting a match-high 16 digs.
NYU closed the night with a 43-21 advantage in kills and a 3-1 edge in service aces. Total team blocks in the match were in favor of the Violets at 7-1. The Knights hit just .057 on the night while NYU hit at a blistering .369 clip.
Wednesday's loss ends the Mount's season at 18-15.
