Knights, Panthers Play To Scoreless Draw

Rapp makes six stops

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to four games on Friday night with a 0-0 draw with visiting Old Westbury. Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Rapp (East Berne, N.Y.) finished the game with six stops for the Knights.
 
Tightly contested throughout, the Mount finished the game with a 12-10 advantage in overall shots, while the visitors held a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. The Mount took the only two corner kicks in the contest, with both coming after halftime.
 
Mount Saint Mary outshot the Panthers by three in the first half and held a 5-4 edge in shots over the second half and the first overtime period. Old Westbury took the only two shots in the second extra frame, with Rapp denying Nick Gino and Edens Avril in the final seven minutes of play.
 
Freshman Matthew Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.) led the Knights with four shots in the game, with Fred Stark (Hollis, N.Y.) and Bobby Caronia (Ossining, N.Y.) each recording two attempts. Avril produced four shots in the game to lead Old Westbury.
 
Rapp finished off the night with his third shutout of the season and posted a season-high save total. He raised his save percentage on the season to .636 and lowered his goals against average to 1.76. Mike Warren recorded the shutout for Old Westbury with five saves.
 
At 7-4-1 overall on the season and 3-0-1 in Skyline Conference play, Mount Saint Mary travels to Yeshiva on Sunday. Kick-off at Votee Park in Teaneck, N.J. is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
