Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team scored its fourth straight win with a convincing 93-21 home triumph over visiting Sarah Lawrence Saturdya afternoon. The Knights showed four players in double-figures, including career-highs from
Erin McCauley (Levittown, N.Y.) and
Dorothy Tighe (Walden, N.Y.).
The 21 points allowed it's the fewest by the Knights since allowing 27 to Yeshiva on November 30, 2015. The Knights posted a season-high 93 points in the win, the most points in a game since tallying 100 points against Purchase on January 15, 2011.
The Mount finished the game shooting 43.3-percent overall, posting a 25-2 edge in second chance points as well as the advantage in points in the paint 48-8 and points off of turnovers 39-5.
Senior
Jessica Rini (Seaford, N.Y.) led the Mount's scoring attack with a game-high 22 points, finishing 10-for-15 from the floor to go along with eight rebounds and a pair of steals. With her scoring output on Saturday, Rini stands just 53 points shy of 1,000 for her career.
Junior
Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) contributed 12 points and nine rebounds to the winning effort, with freshman
Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) closing out a solid day with nine points, four assists and four steals.
McCauley scored in double-figures for the first time in her career on Saturday, netting 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting. She added four rebounds and a pair of assists for the Knights. Tighe eclipsed her previous career-high of eight points with 10 tallies on Saturday, going 5-for-11 from the floor and adding seven rebounds and a blocked shot.
Mount Saint Mary had 13 players find the scoring column on Saturday and seven players make at least three field goals in the game.
Janae Graham (Orange, Conn.) and
Elizabeth Limonta (Stewart Manor, N.Y.) came off the bench to finish with eight and six points, totaling 14 of the Mount's 48 bench points in the game.
Saturday's win pushes Mount Saint Mary to 10-5 overall and to 8-1 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights look to extend their winning streak to five games on Tuesday when they travel to St. Joseph's-L.I. Tip-off with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
