Bronxville, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team scored its fourth straight win and its first conference victory of the season on Wednesday with a 9-0 road triumph at Sarah Lawrence. Sophomore
Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) and senior
Dorothy Tighe (Walden, N.Y.) each won their fifth singles match of the season.
Carnovale, named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week on Monday, won her fourth straight decision and moved to 5-2 overall on the season. She recorded a 6-3, 6-0 win at the top flight to lead the Mount on Wednesday.
Tighe also moved to 5-2 on the season and won her fourth straight decision with an 8-0 fifth singles victory. She moved to 2-2 at the fifth position on the season while holding a perfect 3-0 mark at fourth singles for the Knights.
Senior
Charlotte Pascual (Freeport, N.Y.) and sophomore
Miyanna Vernon (Liberty, N.Y.) also pushed their personal win streaks to four matches on Wednesday. Pascual scored an 8-4 second singles win, while Vernon posted a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at the sixth spot.
Antonietta Capone (Howard Beach, N.Y.) and
Victoria Clay (Saint James, N.Y.) also picked up singles wins on Wednesday for the Mount. Capone cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 third singles win, while Clay scored an 8-0 victory at the fourth position.
Mount Saint Mary began the match with three doubles victory, including 8-3 wins from the first and third pairs. Carnovale and Clay won for the fourth straight match at first doubles, while Capone and
Julia Lorenzo (Emerald Isle, N.C.) won for the second time this season at the third slot. Tighe and Pascual continued their strong doubles play with an 8-4 second position win.
At 4-3 overall on the season and 1-1 in conference play, Mount Saint Mary will put its winning streak on the line Saturday when it plays host to St. Joseph's-L.I. Match time with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
