Women’s Volleyball Snaps Skid With Sweep At York

Knights hit .375 in victory

Jamaica, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team stopped a six match slide on Tuesday night with a 25-7, 25-5, 25-7 non-conference road win at York. The Mount hit .375 as a unit on Tuesday and showed 10 different players with at least one kill.
 
The Mount did not allow a York kill until the third set and scored the final 11 points of the first frame, the first five points of the second stanza and the first six points of the final set. The Knights hit at least .267 in each of the three frames, including a blistering .450 in the third set.
 
Megan Williams (Glenmont, N.Y.), Nicole Spinelli (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) all posted four kills and hit and least .600 in the contest, with Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) joining the group by equaling the match-high with four kills.
 
Spinelli finished off the match with eight service aces, with Julimar Figueroa (Dorado, Puerto Rico) and Jackie Survilla (West Islip, N.Y.) each accounting for five aces. Ally Klesin (Glendale, N.Y.) led the team with three digs in the match.
 
Junior Kim Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) handed out 13 of the team's 25 assists in the tilt and added a pair of digs, with McKenna Cronin (Prospect, Conn.) rounding out the night with eight helpers, an ace and a kill.
 
For the match, Mount Saint Mary finished with a 27-2 edge in kills, a 21-0 advantage in service aces and a slim 13-12 edge in digs.
 
Tuesday's win pushes Mount Saint Mary to 3-11 overall on the season. Next up for the Knights is a trip to Trinity (Conn.) on Saturday for a non-conference tri-match with the host Bantams and Maine Maritime.
