Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team dropped its third straight match to open the season on Saturday with a 9-0 loss to visiting Plattsburgh State. The Knights will continue a four match home stand in search of its first win of the season on Thursday against York (N.Y.).
Sophomore
Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) dropped her second match of the season at the first position on Saturday, falling 6-4, 6-4 to Plattsburgh's Kelci Henn. She falls to 1-2 on the season and to 15-3 overall in her career with the Knights.
Senior
Dorothy Tighe (Walden, N.Y.) and sophomore
Miyanna Vernon (Liberty, N.Y.) each dropped hard fought decisions at the fifth and sixth singles positions. Each player fell in 7-5, 6-2 decisions on Saturday for the Mount.
At 0-3 overall on the season, the Mount returns to action on September 21 when it welcomes York to Newburgh. Match time with the Cardinals is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
