Emerson, N.J. – The Mount Saint Mary College Golf team opened the 2017 season with a 320-341 Skyline Conference victory at Yeshiva on Friday morning. Freshman
Daniel Schena (Cheshire, Conn.) and senior
Dylan Legg (Hanies Falls, N.Y.) each broke 80 in their initial match of the season.
Schena, making his collegiate debut for the Knights, shot on a team-best 77 on the par-71 course at the Emerson Golf Club. He was one of two players to break 80 on the day, with Legg shooting a 79 in the opening match of the season.
Sophomore
Matt Higgins (Meriden, Conn.) carded an 81 for the Mount in the season opening win, with newcomer
Christopher Ruggiero (Newburgh, N.Y.) firing an 83 in his first match with the Mount. Junior
Bryan Gayton (Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y.) also started the season off strong, shooting an 89 for the Knights.
At 1-0 in dual matches on the season, Mount Saint Mary will continue the season on October 6 when it heads to Bethpage Red for the Farmingdale State Fall Invitational.
