Mount Saint Mary Travels To Old Westbury Tuesday Night

Knights topped Panthers on January 11

Newburgh, N.Y. – Coming off its fourth straight victory and 16th win of the season, the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team heads to Old Westbury for a midweek clash with the Panthers on Tuesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with Live Stats available for those who cannot attend the contest.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary improved to 16-4 overall and 12-2 in Skyline Conference play on Saturday with an impressive 70-49 home win over the College of Mount Saint Vincent. The Knights shot 46.2-percent overall in the game and an efficient 54.5-percent from three-point range, while holding the visiting Dolphins to a 30.6-percent conversion rate.
 
Three Mount Saint Mary players scored in double-figures against the Dolphins, led by Jessica Rini (Seaford, N.Y.) who finished up with 18 points on 9-for-17 shooting. Jordyn Hellpap (Hackensack, N.J.) chipped in with 12 points and Lyndsay Pace (Cranford, N.J.) scored a career-high 11 points, adding three assists and three steals in the win.
 
Through 20 games this season, Rini leads the Mount in scoring with 12.0 points per game and is shooting 46.7-percent from the floor. Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) is converting at 47.7-percent overall on the season and is good for 10.4 points per game and a team-high 10.3 rebounds per outing.
 
Hellpap has canned a team-high 30 three-point field goals, while Bridget Kelly (Farmington, Conn.) has swiped a team best 31 steals and is hauling in just under five rebounds per game. Megan Kerutis (Merrimack, N.H.) and Maite Gritsko (Milford, Conn.) are tied for the team lead with 38 assists on the season.
 
As a team, Mount Saint Mary is outscoring its opponents by 16.6 points per game and is holding opponents to 46.1 points per game. The Knights lead the Skyline Conference in scoring defense and field goal percentage (40.5) and rank second in the league in scoring margin, field goal percentage defense (29.4) and rebounding margin (13.8).
Scouting Old Westbury: The Panthers enter Tuesday tilt winners of their last seven outings and are sporting a 17-3 overall record and a 10-3 mark against league rivals. Old Westbury's last loss was against the Mount on January 11 and is coming off a 94-54 win over Purchase on February 4.
 
Old Westbury featured four players in double-figures in the win over Purchase, led by 33 points from Charlotte Renker. She rounded out the game 12-for-14 from the floor and 9-for-12 from the free-throw line to go along with 10 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.
 
Jasmine Robinson added 19 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals, while Ruth Vargas contributed 15 points and nine rebounds. Davida Warren came off the bench to chip in 12 points in 12 minutes of work.
 
Old Westbury finished the win shooting 46.3-percent from the floor and outscored Purchase 42-8 in the paint. Old Westbury also secured 31 offensive rebounds in the contest, leading to a 27-5 edge in second chance scoring.
 
Robinson leads three players in double-figures on the season for the Panthers, averaging a team best 14.5 points per game. She also paces the team with 82 steals on the year, averaging 4.1 thefts per outing. Vargas adds 13.1 points per game for Old Westbury and Renker checks in with 12.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
 
Old Westbury averages 73.4 points per game and leads the conference in scoring margin (22.1), field goal percentage defense (28.9) and rebounding margin (18.5).
 
Last Meeting: The two teams met at the Kaplan Center on January 11 with the Knights coming away with a 57-48 victory. The Mount held the Panthers to 28-percent shooting and a 0-for-11 effort from behind the three-point line. Kerutis paces the Mount with 13 points and four assists, with Hellpap adding 12 points and four helpers.
 
What's Next: Mount Saint Mary will continue a stretch of three of its final four games on the road when it travels to Farmingdale State on February 11. Tip-off with the Rams is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
