Women’s Volleyball Scores Skyline Victories Over Purchase, St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn On Senior Day

Williams matches career-high kill total against Bears

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team closed out the home regular season schedule on Saturday with a pair of Skyline Conference wins. The Knights cruised past Purchase by scores of 25-13, 25-9, 25-13 before sweeping St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 25-10, 25-15, 25-21. Senior Megan Williams (Glenmont, N.Y.) put away 13 kills in the second match of the day, equaling her career-high in the category.

The Knights dominated Purchase to open the day, holding the Panthers to a -.162 hitting percentage and just 11 kills in the contest. The Knights finished the match hitting .179 as a unit and held the advantage in kills 28-11, aces 16-1 and total team blocks 4-1.
 
Freshman Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) continued her strong recent play with a team-high eight kills against the Panthers, hitting an efficient .467 in the process. She closed out the match with two digs and a team-high three service aces.
 
Nicole Spinelli (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) each put away four kills as the Mount had eight different players with at least two winners in the match. Spinelli added two service aces and Burke posted a block.
 
Williams and classmate Jackie Survilla (West Islip, N.Y.) posted a pair of blocks in the win, with Survilla contributing a pair of service aces. Julimar Figueroa (Dorado, Puerto Rico) added a team-high six digs, while Kim Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) handed out a match-high 21 assists.
 
Purchase was led by five kills form Kaitlyn Pillig with Alex Lally leading the team with eight assists and nine digs.
 
Mount Saint Mary 3 – St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 0
The Knights won their third home match of the season in the final match of the day, hitting .292 as a team and holding the visitors to a .012 effort. The Mount put away 37 kills to just 20 for the Bears and led the way in aces 12-4 and total team blocks 6-2.
 
Williams reached double figures in kills for the third time this season and matched her career-high with 13 winners, while hitting .417 for the Knights. She finished off a strong day with two assists, eight digs and a block against St. Joseph's.
 
Kralik contributed eight more kills against the Bears and added five digs, while Burke and Spinelli put away seven and six winners, respectively. Spinelli hit a blistering .600 to go along with five aces and four blocks, while Burke chipped in with two blocks while hitting .538.
 
Figueroa lifted 11 digs for the Knights in their second win of the day and added an ace with Gries finishing off solid day with 36 assists and seven digs. Gries and Survilla joined Williams with a pair of aces in the match.
 
St. Joseph's received nine kills from Nina DiCioccio, with Paige Csikortos leading the team with 16 assists and 10 digs.
 
Following Saturday's sweep, Mount Saint Mary stands at 11-17 overall on the season and 4-3 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Skyline Conference rival Yeshiva. Match time at John Jay College is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
