Dolan matches single season record in goals

Patchogue, N.Y. – Junior Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) matched the single season program record in goals and notched a hat trick on Saturday as the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team posted an important 4-0 Skyline Conference road win at St. Joseph's-L.I.

After a scoreless first half in which the Knights were outshot 11-1, Dolan broke the ice in the 48th minute with his first of three tallies on the day. He finished off a feed from Jay Marchese (Cold Spring, N.Y.) at 47:56 for the eventual game winning goal.

Dolan struck again in the 58th minute with his 16th goal of the season and finished off the hat trick in the 61st minute to give the Mount a commanding 3-0 lead. Fellow junior Bereket Watts (Southold, N.Y.) closed out the scoring on the day when he potted his second of the season off a pass from Joe Bacalhau (Woodbridge, N.J.) at the 69:15 mark of the contest.

Dolan finished with his third multiple goal game of the season and scored for the third straight game and for the seventh time in the last eight contests. His 17 goals match the single season program record, joining Matt Garcia who scored 17 times during the 2013 campaign.

With his scoring output on Saturday, Dolan moved into the Skyline Conference lead for markers and is one point of the league lead in points with 35 and seven away from matching the single season record in the category and just two shy of matching the career mark of 74.

Tyler Rapp (East Berne, N.Y.) picked up his fourth shutout of the season in the win, making a career-high eight saves for the Knights. His goals against average in 11 games played is 0.75 and his save percentage stands at .824. His shutout total is the second highest in the conference to date.
