Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team closes a season-long five game road swing with games at Old Westbury, Montclair State and Maritime. The Knights and Panthers will kick-off at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, with the game with the Red Hawks set for 7:00 p.m. Thursday and the final game of the trip is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. with the Privateers.
At A Glance: Winners of nine straight games and outscoring its opponents 57-3 over the winning streak, Mount Saint Mary enters Tuesday's contest at Old Westbury with a 12-2-1 overall record and a perfect 6-0-0 mark against Skyline Conference opponents.
The Knights have 13 players with at least one goal on the season and 17 players with at least one point. The Mount has scored at least 10 goals in a game three times and for the season is outscoring its opponents 73-11.
Seniors
Bridget McKeever (Wallkill, N.Y.) and
Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) are tied for the team lead in goals with 15 apiece, with Ribadeneyra pacing the Mount in game winning goals with four, assists with 11 and points with 41. McKeever has helped on 10 goals and stands with 40 points heading into Tuesday's tilt.
Senior
Allison Jones (Merrick, N.Y.) is putting together a strong season with nine goals and 22 points, while
Jessica Lanning (Hicksville, N.Y.) and
Alexa Franceschi (Red Hook, N.Y.) enter the week with 11 points apiece. A trio of Knights:
Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.),
Theresa Stinson (Troy, N.Y.) and
Nicolette Wurglics (Glendale, N.Y.) enter the week with 10 points for the Mount.
The Knights begin the week atop the Skyline Conference leaderboard in scoring average, with just shy of five goals per outing, and opponent average, surrendering just .73 goals per game. The Knights also pace the league in scoring margin (4.1), shots (371) and save percentage (.814) and are second in the conference in corner kicks (82).
Individually. Ribadeneyra leads the way in points, while McKeever ranks second in the conference in category. Ribadeneyra also leads the league in assists and the duo stands in a three-way tie for second in goals.
Riley has started 14 games in goal for the Knights and has blanked opponents on five occasions. She holds a .807 save percentage, making 46 stops, and a 0.93 goals against average. She leads the Skyline Conference in goals against average, save percentage and shutouts and ranks ninth in total saves.
Weekly Honors: For the fourth time in 2017 a member of the women's soccer team was honored with a Skyline Conference Weekly Award. Freshman
Haley Murphy (Massapequa, N.Y.) was named the league's Rookie of the Week after posting her first career multiple goal game in a 9-1 road win at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on October 11.
Previewing The Panthers: Old Westbury enters Tuesday's contest with a 2-11-1 overall record and a 1-4-1 mark in league play. The Panthers are winless in their last five outings and are coming off a 1-1 draw with Maritime on October 13.
Gianna Levine, who scored the team's only goal against the Privateers, is in a three-way tie for first on the team with a pair of goals, while Nicole Jones holds the team lead in points with five, scoring twice and adding an assist.
Alexa Higgins, who leads the Skyline Conference in total saves, has made 106 stops and holds a .757 save percentage in 1,062:42 of work.
Scouting Montclair State: The Red Hawks enter Thursday's contest at 6-4-4 overall and 4-1-2 in NJAC play. Montclair State had a six game unbeaten streak stopped in its last outing, a 3-2 overtime loss to The College of New Jersey.
Emily Beenders paces Montclair State with eight goals and 19 points on the season, while Michaela Knoblock holds the team lead in assists with five. Beenders and Knoblock are two of three players with at least 10 points on the season, joined by Maddy McLelland who has 10 points on the strength of four goals and two assists.
Montclair State has used a pair of keepers, with each starting seven games. Phoebe Bledsoe has played 702:55 entering the week and holds an .860 save percentage and a 0.77 goals against average, while Molly Barrow has played 668:09 and posted a .634 save percentage and a 2.02 goals against average.
A Look At Maritime: The Privateers begin the week at 4-6-2 overall and 1-4-1 in conference play and are coming off the 1-1 draw against Old Westbury. The team in winless in its last five outings entering a Tuesday tilt against Purchase, with its last win coming on September 27 against York.
Julianna Avitto leads the team in each offensive category, scoring eight goals and assisting on four others for 20 points. She leads a trio of Maritime players with at least 10 points on the season with Sara Wright scoring six times for 12 points and Caitlin Etienne scoring four times and assisting on two goals for 10 points.
Cammie Havens has played 1,056:43 of a possible 1,146:43 in goal for Maritime and has made 74 saves to go along with a .771 save percentage and a 1.87 goals against average. She ranks fourth in the conference in both overall saves and save percentage heading into Tuesday's game with Purchase.
What's Next: After wrapping up its five game road trip, Mount Saint Mary returns home to close out the regular season against Farmingdale State. Kick-off with the Rams on October 25 is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
