Women’s Soccer Hosts Maritime, Travels To Farmingdale State

Knights have won two of first three league contests

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team will continue a busy week starting Saturday with a home conference tilt against Maritime at 12:00 p.m. Following a quick turnaround, the Knights will play on the road at Farmingdale State on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Live Stats for both games are available for those who cannot attend the games.
 
At A Glance: The Knights have won two of their first three league games in 2016, but are coming off a tough 3-2 road loss at Sage on Wednesday night. Junior Jessica Lanning (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season and classmate Bridget McKeever (Wallkill, N.Y.) finished off her second tally of the year for the Mount just over a minute later in the second half.
 
Mount Saint Mary outshot Sage 24-9 overall, 18-6 in the second half and 14-7 in shots on goal in the game.
 
Heading into Saturday's tilt with the Privateers, the Mount features eight players with at least two goals, led by four goals each from Emily Scheuer (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Maeve O'Sullivan (Garden City Park, N.Y.). O'Sullivan leads the team with nine points, while junior Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) paces the team with eight assists.
 
Scheuer and Ribadeneyra are tied for second on the team in points with eight apiece, while newcomer Theresa Stinson (Troy, N.Y.) and sophomore Jackie Davis (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) are tied for fourth on the squad with seven points each.
 
Junior goalkeeper Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) has played 712 of a possible 810 minutes in goal for the Knights and has made 39 saves through nine games.
 
Scouting Maritime: The Privateers come to town sporting a 3-8 overall record and a 1-2 mark against Skyline Conference opponents. Maritime has dropped each of its last five decisions and has not scored a goal since a 6-0 victory over Yeshiva on September 13.
 
Gayle Woods leads the team with nine points and holds the team lead in goals with three and assists with three. Jessica Yee and Leigh Kouril have each scored twice and Julianna Avitto and Kayla Kelly have each assisted on two goals.
 
Cammie Havens has been the only goalkeeper used by Maritime through 11 games and she has stopped 142 shots and holds a .789 save percentage.
 
A Look At Farmingdale State: The Rams, who were picked up win the 2016 Skyline Conference crown, enter Saturday's game with Sarah Lawrence at 3-6-3 overall and at an unblemished 3-0 in Skyline Conference play. Farmingdale State is coming off a 3-1 road win at Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday.
 
The Rams, who have won three of their last four outings, are led by four goals and 10 points from Taylor Howard. Destiny Pomarico has registered eight points heading into the weekend, scoring two goals and providing a team-high four assists.
 
Farmingdale State has seen three goalkeepers see time thus far, with Daniella Ford getting the bulk of time. She has started eight games for the Rams and holds a 1.10 goals against average and a .818 save percentage while making 45 saves.
 
What's Next: Following a busy weekend, Mount Saint Mary will be off until October 5 when they travel to local rival Vassar. Sunday's game at Farmingdale State starts a four game road trip that also includes a trip to St. Joseph's-L.I. on October 8 and Mount Saint Vincent on October 19.
