Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team dropped a non-conference home match on Thursday to visiting Lehman by a score of 6-3.
Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.),
Alissa Gileau (East Granby, Conn.) and
Isabella Tartaglione (Pine Bush, N.Y.) all won singles matches.
Carnovale moved to a perfect 10-0 at first singles for the Knights in 2016 on Thursday with a hard fought 6-4, 6-3 win. She is the only Mount Saint Mary player with more than five wins on the season and is one of just three players with a winning singles record.
Gileau scored a hard fought 7-5, 6-4 victory for the Knights for her third singles victory of the season. She improved her singles record to 3-4 in 2016. Tartaglione also picked up her third singles victory of the season after posting a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 fourth position win against the Lightning.
Mount Saint Mary dropped all three of the doubles matches on Thursday with the first pair of Canrovale and Gileau and the third pair of
Mikayla Zaccaria (Point Lookout, N.Y.) and
Dorothy Tighe (Walden, N.Y.) both dropping 8-5 decisions.
Thursday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 3-7 overall. The Knights will be off until October 5 when they travel to Brooklyn College. Match time with the Bulldogs is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
