Patchogue, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team returned to Skyline Conference play on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 7-2 league loss on the road at St. Joseph's-L.I. Freshman
Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) won the Mount's lone singles match of the day.
Carnovale moved to 4-0 on the season at first singles with a hard fought 6-2, 7-5 win over St. Joseph's Amanda Post. She moved to a perfect 4-0 on the season and is one of just two Mount Saint Mary players without a loss on the season.
Senior
Alissa Gileau (East Granby, Conn.) suffered a tough loss at the second position on Saturday as did
Isabella Tartaglione (Pine Bush, N.Y.) at the fourth singles position. Gileau took a 6-3, 1-6, 6-10 loss, while Tartaglione suffered a 6-7 (5-7), 3-6 defeat.
Mount Saint Mary's only other victory of the day came at the top doubles position, as the team of Carnovale and Gileau moved to 3-1 on the season. The duo of shutout their opponents, 8-0.
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 1-3 overall on the season and to 1-1 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights will be back on the court Sunday afternoon when they take on Pratt. Match time with the Cannoneers is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
