Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) continued the strong start to her career with a win at first singles for the Knights.
Carnovale moved to 3-0 on the season Wednesday after cruising to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Bard's Lily Schwartz. She is just one of two players of the Mount's roster to win each of their first three singles matches of the season.
Joining Carnovale at 3-0 on the young season is fellow newcomer
Miyanna Vernon (Liberty, N.Y.) who posted a 6-3, 6-2 win at the sixth position on Wednesday. She moved to 2-0 at sixth singles on the season, adding a win at the fifth position for the Knights.
In addition to the two singles wins against the Raptors, the pair of Carnovale and senior
Alissa Gileau (East Granby, Conn.) scored an 8-4 victory at the top doubles position. The duo has been teamed up in each of the team's first three matches of the season and hold a 2-1 record.
Wednesday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 1-2 overall on the season. The Knights will return to conference play on Saturday when they travel to St. Joseph's-L.I. Match time with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
