Mount Saint Mary Suffers Loss To Farmingdale State In Skyline Championship Final

Riley makes four saves for the Knights

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team was dealt a 2-0 loss to Farmingdale State on Saturday afternoon in the Skyline Conference Championship Final. Junior Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) finished the game with four saves in goal.
 
Following a scoreless first half, Farmingdale State broke through with the eventual game winning goal in the 77th minute. Off a free-kick taken by Casey Fackner, Elizabeth Dasilva headed in the deciding tally at 76:08 to open the scoring.
 
The Rams added an insurance goal just over 10 minutes later when Taylor Howard collected a loose ball in the box and scored to the far post at 86:37 to finish off the scoring in the game.
 
Farmingdale State outshot Mount Saint Mary 10-3 in the second half and finished the game with a 16-5 advantage in the category. Allison Jones (Merrick, N.Y.), Maeve O'Sullivan (Garden City Park, N.Y.), Nicole Cavallo (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), Hannah Pascual (Freeport, N.Y.) all recorded shots and Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) posted the team's only shot on goal.
 
Riley closed the game with four stops, making a pair of saves in each half for the Knights. She closes the season with 64 stops. Daniella Ford earned the shutout for the Rams with a single save.
 
Saturday's loss closes the Mount's season at 9-9 overall.
 
Game Notes: Saturday's game marks the seventh straight loss for the Knights in the conference final…The Mount and Farmingdale State have met in six of the last seven finals. The Mount is 0-6 against Farmingdale State in the Skyline Conference Championship.
