The Knights Battle It Out With The Brewers

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary Women's Basketball team hosts Vassar College in a non-conference matchup that is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m Tuesday evening. Live stats will be available for those who are unable to attend the game.

A Look At The Knights: The Knights come into this game with a record of 2-0, and are coming off wins against Hunter College and Bard College. Freshman guard Jordyn Hellpap (Hackensack, N.J.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, and she is also tied with sophomore guard Megan Kerutis (Merrimack, N.H.) as the scoring leader with 12 ppg. Sophomore center Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) is averaging 10 ppg and is leading the team with 9 rpg. Kerutis is leading the team with 3 apg; Cleare and classmate Maite Gritsko (Milford, Conn.) are right behind with 2.5 apg. Cleare, junior forward Taylor Whiffen (Wading River, N.Y.) and junior guard Bridget Kelly (Farmington, Conn.) all average one block per game. Kelly is averaging 3.5 spg; Kerutis and Hellpap are close behind with 3 spg.

Scouting Vassar: The Brewers come into this game with a record of 2-1, and are coming off two straight wins over Morrisville State College and D'Youville College. The Brewers have four players who are averaging over 10 ppg. Freshman forward Sophie Nick leads the team with 11.7 rpg. Junior guard Samarah Cook is dishing out 5 apg. Sophomore guard Maeve Sussman has two blocks in the three games, and freshman guard Isa Peczuh is recording 2.7 spg.

History Between The Teams: Since the start of the 2014-2015 season, the Knights have a record of 0-2 against the Brewers. Last season, the Knights lost 64-49 in Poughkeepsie. Sophomore forward Jessica Rini (Seaford, N.Y.) and Cleare combined for 26 points. Kerutis added 10 of her own. Ariella Rosenthal of the Brewers led all players with 17 points.

What's Next: After their bout with the Brewers, the Knights will not play again until Thursday, Dec. 1 when they host The Sage Colleges for the first Skyline Conference game of the season that is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
