Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary Women's Basketball team travels to Annandale-On-Hudson, N.Y. to take on Bard College in a non-conference matchup that is scheduled to tip-off at 2 p.m. Live stats and video will be available for those who are unable to attend the game.
A Look At The Knights: The Knights come into this game with a record of 1-0, winning their season opener against Hunter College 59-43 on Tuesday. Junior guard
Bridget Kelly (Farmington, Conn.) and sophomore guard
Megan Kerutis (Merrimack, N.H.) each scored 15 points, and sophomore center
Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) added 11 points and 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Kelly also led the team with three steals in the game. Kerutis, Cleare and sophomore guard
Maite Gritsko (Milford, Conn.) each had three assists.
Scouting Bard: The Raptors finished last season with an overall record of 5-20 and with a conference record of 0-16. Bard ended the season on a 16 game losing streak. The Raptors will look to find replacements for their two highest scorers. Of those returning, sophomore Sarah Morris is the highest scorer from last season with 5.6 ppg. Sophomore center Alexis Akingbade is the top rebounder out of the returning players averaging 9.2 rpg last season. Morris also led all returning players with 1.4 apg and 1.3 spg. Senior center Annie Kissel averaged 1.1 bpg last season.
The Raptors are coming off a 65-56 loss to Purchase in their season opener, with Akingbade leading four players in double-figures with 14 points to go along with eight rebounds. Megan Phelan chipped in with 11 points and a team-high nine boards for the Raptors.
History Between The Teams: Since the start of the 2007-2008 season, the Knights have a record of 8-1 against the Raptors. The lone loss came last season in which the Raptors won the game 39-38 at the Kaplan Center. Junior forward
Jessica Rini (Seaford, N.Y.) led the Knights with 12 points. Kelly and Cleare combined for 17 points, and Cleare led the team with 10 rebounds. Graduated players Tytravia Riley and Bianka Bell combined for 31 points, and Riley led all players with 22 rebounds for the Raptors.
What's Next: After their game with Bard, the Knights will be back at home on Tuesday, Nov. 22 for a non-conference game against Vassar College that is slated to tip-off at 6 p.m.
