Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary Women's Basketball team plays host to Hunter College in the season opener as tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Live stats will be available for those who are unable to attend the game.
A Look At The Knights: The Knights finished last season with an overall record of 14-13, and had a conference record of 10-6. The Knights returned six players who averaged at least five points per game (ppg). Junior forward
Jessica Rini (Seaford, N.Y) led the team in scoring with 12.7 ppg, and sophomore center
Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) was second in scoring with 10.3 ppg. Cleare led the team in rebounds per game (rpg) with 11. Rini was second on the team with 8.6 rpg, and sophomore forward
Elizabeth Limonta (Stewart Manor, N.Y.) was third with 7 rpg. The Knights have seven players who each recorded at least one assist per game (apg) last season. Sophomore guard
Megan Kerutis (Merrimack, N.H.) led the team with 2.4 apg, and junior guard
Janae Graham was second with 2 apg. Cleare led the team in blocks per game (bpg) with 1.9, and Limonta averaged 1.7 bpg. Rini led the team with 1.4 steals per game (spg), and junior guard
Bridget Kelly (Farmington, Conn.) was second with 1.4 spg.
A season ago, the Knights posted the most wins in a season since the 2012-13 year and won a game in the conference championship for the first time since the Knights won the conference crown in 2011-12. Rini was tabbed a First Team All-Skyline Conference selection following her sophomore season and Cleare burst onto the scene, winning conference Co-Rookie of the Year honors.
In addition to a strong core of returning players, the Knights will look to newcomers

Lyndsay Pace (Cranford, N.J.),
Taylor Whiffen (Wading River, N.Y.), and
Jordyn Hellpap (Hackensack, N.Y.) for contributions from the outset in 2016-17.
Scouting Hunter: The Hawks finished last season with an overall record of 10-17, and had a conference record of 5-11. The Hawks have their top three scorers last season returning, and all averaged at least 8 ppg. Junior guard Ashley Yu led the team with 13.1 ppg. The Hawks look to replace their top two rebounders from last season, including forward Ayanna Hudson who led the team with 9.4 rpg. Yu led the team with 2 apg, and sophomore guard was second with 1.9 apg. The Hawks will also look to replace their leading shot blocker as Hudson led the team 1.9 bpg. Of the returning players, sophomore guard Jade Aponte led the team with 1.8 spg, and Yu was second with 1.5 spg.
History Between The Teams: Since the start of the 2007-2008 season, the Knights have a record of 4-2 against the Hawks. The teams last faced off on Nov. 17, 2015 in which the Hawks beat the Knights 58-48. Rini led the Knights with 15 points, and Aponte and Yu combined for 23 points for the Hawks.
What's Next: After their season opener against the Hawks, the Knights will travel to Annandale-on-Hudson on Saturday, Nov. 19 to take on Bard College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
