Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team will begin a busy week on Wednesday when it travels to Brooklyn for a non-conference match with the Bulldogs. The Knights will then return home for a pair of Skyline Conference matches, hosting Sage on Friday and Purchase on Sunday.
At A Glance: The Knights have dropped each of their last three outings heading into Wednesday's match and stand at 3-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Mount's last victory came in an 8-1 triumph over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on September 24.
Freshman
Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.), who has been named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week two straight times, leads the Mount in singles action with an unblemished 10-0 mark at the top flight. She has won 10 of the Mount's 30 singles matches on the season and is one of just three players with a singles mark above .500 thus far.

Miyanna Vernon (Liberty, N.Y.) holds a 5-4 record in singles play, including a 3-2 mark at the fifth position, while sophomore
Mikayla Zaccaria (Point Lookout, N.Y.) also holds a 5-4 record, including a perfect 4-0 mark at fourth singles.
In doubles action, the duo of Carnovale and senior
Alissa Gileau (East Granby, Conn.) has posted a 6-4 record at the first position and is one of just two pairs this season with more than one victory. The duo
Isabella Tartaglione (Pine Bush, N.Y.) and
Dorothy Tighe (Walden, N.Y.) holds a 2-1 record, posting a victory at both the second and third slots.
A Look At Brooklyn: The Bulldogs enter Wednesday's match at 3-6 overall and with a 1-4 mark in CUNYAC play. Brooklyn has lost three of its last four outings, including an 8-1 defeat at the hands of Purchase on September 29. Muriel Dervich posted the team's lone victory in the match, a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at the first singles position.
Scouting Sage: The Gators will enter Friday's tilt in Newburgh with a 4-5 mark overall and a 2-3 record against Skyline Conference opponents. Sage has dropped three of its last four matches, but is coming off a 6-3 victory over Castleton State on October 2.
The Gators hold a .623 singles winning percentage and are led by a 7-2 mark from Shanice Mendoza, including a 6-2 mark at sixth singles. Shanessa Mendoza is 6-3 at the third singles position with Melissa Estremera, Sammantha Montague and Emily Schultz all posting five singles victories thus far.
The Gators haven't fared as well in doubles play, posting a 12-15 record as a team. The duo of Montague and Abbey Clobridge has a 3-6 record at the top flight and the pair of Estermera and Shanessa Mendoza has won three times at the second position.
A Look At The Panthers: Purchase comes to town on Sunday sporting a 4-6 overall record and a 2-2 mark in Skyline Conference matches. The Panthers have split their last four matches and are coming off an 8-1 win over Brooklyn on September 29.
Abigail Cuddy paces Purchase with a 6-2 singles record, posting wins at the third, fifth and sixth positions. Erika Fulton is 4-4 at the top flight heading into the weekend, while Tara Persaud and Sofia Rapisarda hold identical 3-0 records.
In doubles play, the pair of Cuddy and Cailey McKenna have dominated the third flight, posting an impressive 9-1 record.
What's Next: Sunday's match with Purchase will close the home schedule for the Knights, with the Mount rounding out the regular season with road matches at York, Farmingdale State and Berkeley.
