Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team will return to action on Wednesday afternoon with a non-conference match-up at local foe Vassar. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. with Live Stats and Video available for those who cannot attend the game.
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary is coming off a split of two Skyline Conference contests last weekend, topping Maritime at home 10-0 Saturday afternoon, before falling on the road at Farmingdale State on Sunday by a 5-2 score. The split moves the Mount to 4-7 overall on the season and to 3-2 in conference play.
Against Maritime, the Mount featured nine different goal scorers and had four players with at least one goal and one assist. Junior
Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) was the lone player to score more than one goal, potting two and adding an assist. Classmate
Bridget McKeever (Wallkill, N.Y.) rounded out the win with a goal and four assists for the Knights.
On Sunday,
Allison Jones (Merrick, N.Y.) scored the Mount's first goal and McKeever converted a penalty kick for the Knights' scoring output.
Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) finished up with five saves in goal for the Mount.
Through Sundays contest, McKeever and Jones sit in a five-way tie for the team lead in goals with four, while Ribadeneyra leads the team with nine assists to go along with a pair of goals. She and McKeever are even atop the team leaderboard in points with 13.
Breaking Down The Brewers: Vassar comes into Wednesday's action at 4-5-1 overall and 3-0-0 in Liberty League play and has posted a win in each of its last three outings. The Brewers are outscoring their opponents 14-2 over that stretch.
Through 10 games, Rebecca Andrews leads Vassar with five goals and 10 points, while Savannah Cutler paces the team four assists. Stephanie Tapolsky has seen the bulk of time in goal for the Brewers and holds a 1.11 goals against average and a .773 save percentage while making 34 stops.
What's Next: Following Wednesday's non-conference tilt, the Mount will head to Patchogue, N.Y. to take on league rival St. Joseph's-L.I. In the two team's last meeting, the Golden Eagles came away with a 2-1 victory in the Skyline Conference Championship game.
