Patsalos nets career-high 13 points

Old Westbury, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team continued its Skyline Conference schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 79-62 road loss at Old Westbury. Freshman T.J. Patsalos (Newburgh, N.Y.) was one of four players to score in double-figures for the Knights, finishing the day with a career-high 13 points.

Mount Saint Mary never led in the game and was held to 23.1-percent shooting the first half. The Mount's only point of the first five-plus minutes was a free-throw from Gerard Nocera (Holmdel, N.J.) at the 18:25 mark of the first half. The Mount's first field goal did not come until a Jason Jones (Lansdale, Pa.) triple 5:38 into the contest.

Mount Saint Mary would cut a once 13 point disadvantage down to just six on a Patsalos conversion at the midway point of the opening stanza, but the Knights were held to just four points over the final nine minutes of the first half. Old Westbury closed the period on a 12-4 run to take a 31-17 lead into halftime.

The Panthers shot an even 50-percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of Saturday, with Jamil Stanley going 6-for-10 from the floor on his way to 12 first half points. P.J. Page chipped in with 10 points for Old Westbury. The Knights were led by five points at the break from junior Connor Nicholson (Staten Island, N.Y.).

Mount Saint Mary improved to 50-percent shooting in the second half, but was unable to cut its deficit to under 12 points in the second half. The Panthers continued their efficient shooting after the break, converting at a 60.7-percent rate to keep a comfortable lead over the final stanza.

Patsalos scored nine second half points for Mount Saint Mary, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor, on his way to a career-high point total. He finished the game 6-for-8 from the field, with a three-pointer, to go along with a rebound, a blocked shot, an assist and a steal.

Nicholson matched the team-high with 13 points, hitting three triples in the game, adding a pair of assists and two steals. Nocera tallied 11 times for the Mount and grabbed five rebounds, with Tyler McDine (Suffern, N.Y.) chipping in with 10 points and three assists.

Sophomore Daniel Wolff (Holtsville, N.Y.) led the team with six rebounds and freshman Connor Bacci (Bayside, N.Y.) handed out three assists in the game, adding a pair of steals.

Old Westbury was led by a game-high 30 points from Stanley who totaled four assists and four steals for the Panthers. Page added 17 points and a game-high five assists and Victor Luckens rounded out a trio in double-figures with 14 points, joining Stanley with a game-high 10 rebounds.
