Graham Scores Career-High In Dominating Road Win At Yeshiva

Sophomore scores 19 points, Cleare hauls down 17 rebounds

New York, N.Y. – Led by a career-high 19 points from sophomore Janae Graham (Orange, Conn.) and a career-best 17 rebounds from freshman Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.), the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team scored its third straight win with a convincing 59-26 road win at Yeshiva on Sunday evening.

Mount Saint Mary was never threatened in the game, scoring the first nine points of the contest. The Knights took their first double-figure lead of the game on a Jessica Rini (Seaford, N.Y.) conversion with just under three minutes left in the first period and carried a 16-6 advantage into the second period.

The Knights allowed just a single point to Yeshiva over the first 4:58 of the second quarter in building a 24-7 lead on a Megan Kerutis (Merrimack, N.H.) jumper at the 5:16 mark of the second stanza. Yeshiva, who did not record a field goal until the 4:36 mark of the quarter, was held to just seven points as the Mount carried a 30-13 lead into the intermission.

Graham and Cleare led the Mount Saint Mary offensive attack with seven points apiece over the first 20 minutes, with Cleare finishing the half with 12 rebounds. The Knights shot 41.4-percent from the floor in the first half and held Yeshiva to a 4-for-34 effort from the floor.

Yeshiva put together its most productive 10 minutes of the game coming out of halftime, scoring 10 points, but was outscored by six as the Mount ballooned its lead to 46-23 after 30 minutes of action.

Mount Saint Mary continued to stifle Yeshiva in the final segment, allowing just three points and holding the Maccabees without a point until the 4:40 mark of the quarter. The Knights built a lead as large as 33 points on a Brooke Denin (Glenham, N.Y.) triple in the final minute to close out the scoring in the contest.

Graham added 12 points on 4-for-4 shooting and a 4-for-4 effort from the free-throw line in the second half and closed the game 7-for-8 from the floor, including a three-pointer, besting her previous career-high by six points. She added four rebounds and a steal in the win.

Rini finished off her team leading sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds, adding three blocked shots and a steal. Cleare secured 17 rebounds and came up a point shy of a double-double and chipped in with three assists and a pair of blocked shots.

Freshman Elizabeth Limonta (Stewart Manor, N.Y.) and Kassidy Hallum (Lake Grove, N.Y.) each secured seven caroms for the Knights, with Hallum matching the team-high with three assists in the game.

Mount Saint Mary finished the game shooting 44.4-percent from the floor and turned 17 offensive rebounds on the day into 17 second chance points. The Knights' defense forced 18 turnovers and held Yeshiva to 13.8-percent shooting.

Sunday's win moves Mount Saint Mary to 9-10 overall on the season and to 7-5 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights return to action on Tuesday when they step out of conference and travel to local rival Vassar. Tip-off in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. is set for 7:00 p.m.
