Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) posted her fifth shutout of the season on Sunday, as the Mount Saint Mary Women's Soccer team posted a 2-0 Skyline Conference victory over visiting Farmingdale State.
O'Sullivan broke a scoreless tie at the 76:43 mark of Sunday's contest when she collected a turnover and buried s shot inside the right post for the eventual game winning tally. The Knights saw their lead double in the final minute on a Farmingdale State own goal.
The two teams played a scoreless first half on Sunday, but the visiting Rams held a 9-1 advantage in shots leading into halftime. Riley was forced to make six stops in the opening 45 minutes to keep the Knights even.
Farmingdale State finished the game with a 17-5 advantage in shots, including an 8-4 edge in the second half. Shots on goal were also in favor of the Rams at 12-6, while corner kicks in the tilt were even at two apiece.
Riley made six saves in each half on Sunday to finish with a season-high 12 stops in the win. She moved her goals against average to 1.08 and her save percentage to .836 with her fifth shutout of the season. Breanna Blair finished the game with four stops for the Rams.
Sunday's win moves Mount Saint Mary to 6-3-1 and 3-0-0 in league play after closing a four game home stand unbeaten at 3-0-1. Next up for the Knights is a non-conference road game at King's (Pa.) on September 30. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
