Women’s Basketball Drops Non-Conference Matchup at Baruch, 65-39

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team (9-15) fell to City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) leader Baruch College (21-4), 65-39, in a non-conference matchup at ARC Arena Thursday evening.
 
Baruch broke the game open early, using a 15-2 run over the final 10:37 of the first half to take a 41-16 lead into the break. The Bearcats forced the Knights into 20 turnovers in the first half, turning them into 24 points. The Knights nearly played even with Baruch in the second half, but was narrowly outscored, 24-23.
 
Sheridan Taylor led all scorers with 21 points, adding eight rebounds. Francess Henry and Alicia Ulmer each converted a double-double in Thursday's contest. Both scored 10 points, but Ulmer outrebounded Henry, 12-10.
 
Senior guard Lauren Romao (Brick, N.J.) paced the Knights with nine points and four assists on the evening. Freshman forward Jessica Rini (Seaford, N.Y.) contributed eight points and a team-high seven boards.
 
Baruch shot 44.1 percent (30-of-68) in the game, while the Knights made 16-of-56 (28.6 percent) from the field. The Bearcats pulled down 45 rebounds, while the Knights were held to 38.
 
With a Skyline Conference Championship tournament berth already in hand, the Knights conclude the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 21, with a Skyline matchup at St. Joseph's College (L.I.). Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Knights will then take on top-seeded Farmingdale State College in the semifinals of the Skyline Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m.
