New York, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team posted a pair of straight set conference wins on Sunday, topping Yeshiva 25-5, 25-11, 25-10 before upending Sarah Lawrence 25-10, 25-10, 25-8. Senior
Kayla Kurka (Islip, N.Y.) combined for 13 kills on the day, including eight in the victory over Yeshiva.
Mount Saint Mary was not threatened in either match and opened the day hitting an efficient .320 against the Maccabees. The Knights put away 43 kills against just 11 attack errors and held Yeshiva to only 11 winners and a -.061 attack percentage.
Kurka hit a blistering .533 for the Knights in the win, putting away eight kills without an error in 15 attempts. Junior
Rachel Sabatini (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) also put down eight kills in the win and joined Kurka with five digs in the match.

Elizabeth Lavin (Hicksville, N.Y.) contributed seven kills to the first win of the day with
Angelia Cirigliano (Newburgh, N.Y.),
Jennifer Bones (Camden, Del.),
Maribeth Powers (Yorktown, N.Y.) and
Nicole Spinelli (Wantagh, N.Y.) each registering four kills.
Jennifer Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) led all players in the match with 22 digs, adding a pair of service aces for the Knights.
Kristen Maddock (Medford, N.Y.) handed out a match-high 20 assists in the contest, with Sabatini leading all players with five service aces.
For the match, Mount Saint Mary posted a 12-0 advantage in service aces, with Kurka posting the only block in the contest against the Maccabees.
The Knights improved on their hitting percentage against Sarah Lawrence, converting at a .392 clip against the Gryphons. Mount Saint Mary put away 38 kills in the match, totaling only nine attack miscues in the sweep.
The Mount had 11 different players record a kill in the match, with Sabatini, Kurka and
Jennifer Hanley (Sayville, N.Y.) leading the way with five winner apiece. Sabatini and Kurka each hit .444 in the match, with Hanley converting at a .571 clip.
Maddock handed out 18 more assists in the second match of the day, with senior
Kaitlin O'Brien (Staten Island, N.Y.) leading the team with five service aces. Gries rounded out the day with 12 digs for Mount Saint Mary in the victory.
For the match, Mount Saint Mary held a 38-10 advantage in kills and 20-1 edge in service aces.
With Sunday's results, Mount Saint Mary stands at 13-18 overall on the season and at 6-2 in conference play. Next up for the Knights are the final two regular season matches of the season. Mount Saint Mary will travel to St. Joseph's-L.I. to take on the Golden Eagles and Farmingdale State on Halloween.
