Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis Team dropped a tough 5-4 Skyline Conference decision to Yeshiva on Sunday on Senior Day. Prior to the match, the Knights honored
Katie Conroy (Middletown, N.Y.),
Ellen Hendricks (West Points, N.Y.) and
Breanna Scott (highland Falls, N.Y.) for their contributions to the program during their respective careers.
Mount Saint Mary scored a pair of singles wins on Sunday, posting victories at the third and fourth positions and also picked up victories at second and third doubles. Hendricks picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win for the Knights in singles play at the fourth spot, while junior
Alissa Gileau (East Granby, Conn.) posted a 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 triumph at the third position.
In doubles play on Sunday,
Isabella Tartaglione (Pine Bush, N.Y.) and Gileau outlasted the duo from Yeshiva in the second position, posting an 8-6 victory. The Mount's third duo of
Mikayla Zaccaria (Point Lookout, N.Y.) and
Mallory Menneci (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) hung on for the same 8-6 victory.
Sunday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 4-8 overall and to 2-5 in league play. The Knights will be back on the courts on Tuesday when they welcome local foe Bard to the Kaplan Tennis Courts. Match time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
