Troy, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary Women's Tennis team evened its conference record and won its second straight match against a Skyline Conference opponent on Saturday with a 6-3 road victory at Sage. The win moves the Knights to 3-5 overall on the season and to 2-2 against conference opponents.
After dropping the first position doubles match on Saturday, the Knights rallied to win the other two doubles competitions against the Gators. The pair of
Isabella Tartaglione (Pine Bush, N.Y.) and
Alissa Gileau (East Granby, Conn.) scored an 8-6 victory at the second spot.
At the third doubles position, the duo of
Mikayla Zaccaria (Point Lookout, N.Y.) and
Mallory Menneci (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) downed the pair from Sage by a score of 8-1 to give the Knights a 2-1 lead heading into single play.
Mount Saint Mary took two of the first three singles position matches from Sage, with
Breanna Scott (Highland Falls, N.Y.) posting a 6-2, 6-4 win at first singles. At the third position, Gileau scored a 7-5, 6-1 victory for the Knights.
The Knights finished out the win with victories at the fifth and sixth positions.
Katie Conroy (Middletown, N.Y.) won at the fifth spot by scores of 6-2, 6-3 and Zaccaria won the sixth singles match 6-0, 6-0 to secure the win for the Mount.
Following Saturday's win, Mount Saint Mary will return to action on Thursday evening when its host league rival St. Joseph's-L.I. Match time in Newburgh is set for 5:00 p.m.
