Women’s Volleyball Shut out at Hunter, 3-0

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team (8-13) was shut out, 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-20), in a non-conference road match at Hunter College (8-11) Tuesday evening at the Hunter Sportsplex.
 
Freshman middle blocker Jennifer Bones (Camden, Del.) scored five kills and hit .250 to lead the Knights, while junior outside hitter Kayla Kurka (Islip, N.Y.) matched her with five kills of her own. The two of them also shared a pair of block assists in the match. Freshman libero Chelsea Barberan (Fishkill, N.Y.) picked up a match-best 10 digs.
 
Julia Connolly led Hunter with 12 kills on the evening. Kristine Ciurcina had a match-high 18 assists, while Taylor Kordich dished out 12.
 
The Knights were outhit by the Hawks on Tuesday, .149 to .034.
 
The Knights will look to get back on track on Saturday, Oct. 4, when they host Brooklyn College and William Paterson University in a non-conference tri-match at the Kaplan Center. The Knights will take on Brooklyn at 11 a.m., then Brooklyn and William Paterson will go head-to-head at 1 p.m., and then finally the Knights will close the day against William Paterson at 3 p.m.
