Match ResultsNEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's tennis team (2-5) made quick work of the College of New Rochelle (0-3) on Sunday, shutting out the Blue Angels, 9-0, on the Mount Saint Mary College Tennis Courts.
The Knights lost just one game in their three doubles matches, taking a quick 3-0 lead in the match. Juniors
Breanna Scott (Highland Falls, N.Y.) and
Katie Conroy (Middletown, N.Y.) picked up an 8-0 sweep of Jamilla Smith and Kendra Michel at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore
Isabella Tartaglione (Pine Bush, N.Y.) and freshman
Rebecca Tortora (Wolcott, Conn.) also took an 8-0 victory in their flight-two doubles match over Samantha Gomez and Kyanna Bertrand. Freshman
Mallory Menneci (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and junior
Ellen Hendricks (West Point, N.Y.) picked up an 8-1 win at third doubles over Kelly Ball and Marie Gomez.
Scott completed a clean day with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles over Bertrand. Tortora took down Samantha Gomez at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Tartaglione and Menneci matched Tortora at third and fourth singles, respectively, with 6-1, 6-0 victories over their opponents. Freshman
Carolina Molina (West Hempstead, N.Y.) beat Marie Gomez at flight-five singles, 6-2, 6-1, and Hendricks wrapped it up with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lisa Alcius at No. 6 singles.
The Knights will host SUNY New Paltz in their next match on Friday, Oct. 3, at 5:30 p.m. on the Mount Saint Mary College Tennis Courts.
