Box Score NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (2-2) dropped to .500 on the early season, falling 3-0 to the State University of New York at New Paltz (6-1) Saturday afternoon at Kaplan Field.
New Paltz's Katelyn Cordero scored the shutout victory by stopping six Knight shots on the afternoon. Freshman goalkeeper
Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) shouldered the loss, allowing three goals and making one save.
Skye Kaler scored the only goal of the first half off a long feed from Bryce Kristall to put the Hawks up 1-0. Eleni Anselmi doubled the visitors' lead with a penalty kick goal in the 53rd minute. The Hawks went up 3-0 when Sarah Painter narrowly placed the ball under the crossbar from about 30 yards out. Kristall picked up her second assist on Painter's tally.
The Knights did not go down easy, outshooting the Hawks, 10-9, on the afternoon. They also drew seven corner kicks to just two for New Paltz.
The Knights will look to bounce back on Wednesday, Sept. 17, when they host local rival Bard College at Kaplan Field. The game is set to kick off under the lights at 7 p.m.
