Box Score MADISON, N.J. – Stout defense and two goals scored late in the second half led the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (2-1) to a 2-0 shutout victory over Fairleigh Dickinson-College at Florham (2-2) Wednesday evening at Shields Field.
Freshman goalkeeper
Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) picked up the shutout victory without needing to make a save all night, as the Knights held their opponents to just three shots on the Knights, none of which went on target. Annie George suffered the loss for the Devils, allowing two goals and making four saves.
Senior forward
Marissa Segreto (West Islip, N.Y.) gave the Knights at 1-0 lead at the 75:56 mark, and then freshman midfielder
Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) scored again just 24 seconds later to give the Knights a safe 2-0 edge.
The Knights outshot their opponents, 13-3, on the evening. They also earned four corner-kick opportunities to just one for the Devils.
The Knights begin a stretch of four straight home contests on Saturday, Sept. 13, when they play host to SUNY New Paltz. The game is set to kick off at 1 p.m.
